There is no doubt that followers of TLC's Sister Wives have extreme opinions when it comes to Kody, Meri, Christine, Janelle, and Robyn Brown. As later seasons have aired, fans have failed to hold back their true feelings about the polygamous family dynamic. Often, viewers have sunk pretty low when it comes to insulting the Browns, and their words haven't always shown the fans in a good light.
For ten years, fans have watched Kody and his four wives share their unusual story of plural marriage. When the TLC show first aired, there seemed to be enough love to go around, but as the seasons went on, Kody started to become distant. Fans would argue that Kody has drifted away from most of his wives, and focused on bonding with his fourth wife. Since Sister Wives introduced Kody, he has been an ardent supporter of polygamy. For years now, fans have hoped that Kody's wives would leave him since he can often come across as selfish. It has been so easy for viewers to voice their opinions, but their words have not always been the nicest, and the Sister Wivee cast has taken note.
There have been multiple times when fans could no longer bite their tongues and lashed out on social media. Their anger is not always directed at Kody and Robyn, but a lot of it is. Over the years, followers have developed a genuine dislike for Kody's fourth wife, whom they feel is a master manipulator. Below are a few examples of when fans crossed the line.
Kody Calls Janelle Lazy
Who could forget the time Kody called his second wife lazy after an intense Zoom call during season 15. Kody was trying to explain the COVID-19 rules that he wanted his family to follow, but Janelle was having none of it. She bluntly told her husband that she wouldn't follow his advice, even noting that their children would rather hang out at Christine's house than see him. Fans took to TLC's comment section to share that Kody seemed to get meaner and meaner to his wives each season.
Kody & Christine's Breakdown
As fans now know, Christine has left her husband and moved herself to Utah. The current Sister Wives season is showing the demise of the union. During the seasons, diehard fans watched as Christine joked that their polygamous relationship had taken a turn, with Kody putting himself first more often. Viewers instantly agreed with her take on the situation. In TLC's comment sections, fans flocked to attack Kody's character once again. Fans were upset that Kody had tried to gaslight his third wife, with one fan accusing Kody of playing the victim and failing to acknowledge the fact that he was hurting Christine. They felt he blamed others for his own problems.
Meri Defends Her Family
At one point, Sister Wives fans sunk so low that Meri, Kody's first wife, had to step in. During an Instagram Live, one troll decided to tell Meri that she had spawned a "misfit." Meri absolutely lost it, and her reaction was captured by @WithoutaCrystalBall. The comment was extremely aggressive, with Meri blocking the user. She made it clear to fans that behavior like that would not be tolerated. Sadly, some fans take their opinions too far, instead of just enjoying a reality TV show. Hopefully, the haters will learn to control themselves in the future.
