Sister Wives season 17 is almost finished, and the Brown family members are sharing details about where they stand. After Christine Brown, who left her ex-husband Kody Brown in 2021, decided to separate herself from the family, things were shaky for the Browns. While fellow wives Meri Brown and Janelle Brown were both initially devastated by Christine’s decision, the women have since decided to split with Kody, leaving him with Robyn Brown as his only wife. As members of the Mormon faith and proponents of plural marriage, the fact that Kody currently only has one wife rather than the four poses a problem for the patriarch.

While it has been reported that Kody is seeking another wife to add to the family, both Christine and Robyn seem to be refuting that statement in a recently released clip of Sunday’s Sister Wives: One on One episode. In the clip, shared by People, both women explain why they feel Kody will not seek new wives. Christine spoke candidly about what she thinks Kody will do now that three of his four wives have left him. Christine explained, “I think that there'd be a little bit of a mourning and a little bit of a loss there still, because it's a dream, right? It's giving up on a dream, and it's not a dream that they wanted to give up on, necessarily." Sister Wives star Christine then continued, "I don't see them looking for another wife after this."

Sister Wives' Christine Says Kody 'Failed' at Plural Marriage

Christine, who won’t be leaving Sister Wives behind after her split, made it clear that though there is loss and grief involved in the breakup of the Brown family, it is also Kody’s pride that may stop him from looking for another wife, as he does not want to feel like a failure should the relationship not work out. When the interviewer reminds Robyn, Kody’s only remaining wife, she has always wanted plural marriage, the Sister Wives star enthusiastically agrees before stating that Kody has “basically said no” to looking for another wife. Robyn went on to say that while she would still like to have a plural family with multiple wives, she is, “scared of it because of how badly this has gone."

Robyn Brown Says She’s 'Scared' to Try Plural Marriage Again

Robyn, who some feel is Kody’s perfect match, looks uncomfortable in the Sister Wives interview clip, spending most of the time with her hands on her face as she speaks honestly about her future with plural marriage. It is, at times, difficult to watch, as Robyn is clearly uncomfortable with the topic at hand. Though many are focused on Kody’s failures and the dissolving of his relationships, Robyn has been vocally uninterested in monogamy in the past. Robyn and Kody have both been adamant over the years that plural marriage is the only possible option for their family, as it is dictated by their faith.

The fact that two of Kody’s original wives feel that he will not seek another wife, which makes him a monogamist by default, brings all sorts of questions to the surface. Most notably, whether Kody has been practicing plural marriage because of his faith, or because it has brought the Brown family fame. As Sister Wives season 17 wraps up, many are hoping it leaves few questions unanswered.

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
