Meri Brown from Sister Wives was the first wife of Kody Brown when their family joined reality TV. She had to watch her husband court and marry three other women. Kody made it clear that he was no longer interested in Meri, leaving her alone most of the time until Meri chose to separate from her husband in 2022. While Meri has settled into the single life, she is now running her own business. However, there is still plenty to know about Meri outside of her previous marriage.

Recent seasons, such as Sister Wives season 18, have seen more than just Meri unhappy in her polygamous union. When Janelle Brown asked Kody to stay away during the COVID-19 pandemic, since not all of her children could quarantine at home because of work and school, Janelle’s daughter said not seeing her father had become normal and didn’t bother her. Kody himself seemed more impatient and annoyed with his wives through the pandemic, especially Meri. Christine Brown also talked about not wanting to be married to Kody anymore and has since left Kody and moved to Utah. Luckily for Meri, she has her own life to fall back on.

Who Is Sister Wives' Meri Brown?

Meri, who's being painted as the villain, was born on January 16, 1971, making her 52 years old in 2023. She legally and spiritually married Kody when she was 19 years old and came from a polygamous family. Meri's parents were part of a fundamentalist church that encouraged the polygamist lifestyle. Kody and Meri had one child together, Leon Brown, but the couple’s relationship had been going downhill for a long time prior to their legal divorce in 2014 and separation in 2022. In 2017, Meri was able to achieve a lifelong dream, despite not receiving any help from Kody. Meri purchased a property that had once belonged to her great-great-grandmother to turn it into a bed and breakfast. Kody refused to help her pay for it, so she funded it on her own.

Meri had to close the inn due to the pandemic but later implemented social distancing procedures to be able to safely reopen in 2021. Meri has had a difficult time filming Sister Wives through its run. Besides Meri's marriage to Kody falling apart, she was fired from her job during the first season, as they didn’t want to be connected to the show. In later seasons, she was threatened with eviction because neighbors didn’t approve of the polygamous family. Through all the hardships, Meri has impressed audiences with her resilience and strength, even though she chose to stay in the negative environment that is her polygamous marriage for so long
