Star of Sister Wives Christine Brown has made her negative feelings towards her polygamous relationship with Kody Brown very clear. Having shared her husband with three other women for over ten years, and being frustrated with a lack of support from him, she recently shared she is unhappy in their relationship. “I can’t do marriage with Kody anymore,” she said.
Fans of the show believe Christine would thrive in a monogamous relationship. They think she should move back to Utah like she desires and completely restart her life. Her request to move back to their home state was met with a round of “no's" from the family, making her feel like she doesn’t have a say. Sometimes, Christine feels she isn’t as important as her sister wives. “Anytime we’ve had major decisions, I go through a time where I’m like, ‘Does my opinion really even matter here?’” she said. “It’s been a struggle the whole time. I’m tired of feeling like I don’t matter. I’m tired of not having his support when I really need it...I need a partnership. I need something different than this.”
Kody is well aware of Christine's struggles in their relationship. “Plural marriage is a challenge that she doesn’t enjoy,” he said. “I’ll be frank, plural marriage is not a challenge that I enjoy.” Kody told another one of his wives, Meri, that he doesn’t think Christine is happy, will ever be happy, or has ever been happy in all of their time together. Christine even noted she doesn't like to see her husband with his other wives, as it makes her jealous. The 49-year-old called her relationships with Kody and the sister wives a roller coaster ride and said they have had their ups and downs. “The relationships with my sister wives and Kody, they’ve come and gone, they’ve ebb and flowed,” she told People.
However, there are parts of their relationship Christine likes. She appreciates the way they never yell at each other, unlike other reality TV families that tend to fight. “I don't want to be those people that are yelling at each other. So, that, I'm extremely grateful for my sister wives and Kody for,” she said. Being the third wife also gives her the independence and freedom she wants.
Kody once said “Love really isn’t unconditional. Nobody is stuck with me and they can all leave.” With that, fans have been speculating about which wife will be the first to go. Though Christine seems like she may be ready to go, Meri appears to be done with Kody as well. Kody started the show with four wives, but, with the way things are currently going among the family, he may end the series with none.
