A new poster released for Sing 2 has confirmed singers Halsey, Bono, and Pharell Williams will be among the film’s cast in 2021. The animated musical will be a sequel to the incredibly popular children’s film Sing, which debuted in 2016.

The new cast members were announced in Rolling Stone, which also showed off a new teaser poster. In addition to famous singers like Halsey, Bono, and Pharell Williams, Sing 2 will also be introducing new actors to the voice cast, including Bobby Cannavale, Letitia Wright, Eric Andre, and Chelsea Peretti. Matthew McConaughey will return to the franchise as the main character, Buster. Sing 2 will pick up right where the first film left off and see Buster and his friends attempting to put on a new musical show at the fictional Crystal Tower Theater.

The trend of hiring famous actors to voice animated roles has been a standard in children’s animation for decades and has undoubtedly been Sing’s strategy in the past. The focus on music is also essential for the movie, and bringing in more singers makes sense for a film about singing. Hopefully, all the new actors and singers will bring new energy to Sing 2 that kids will love.

Sing 2 was initially slated to debut this year but was pushed back a year in favor of The Croods 2. Now that The Croods sequel has been released, Universal has been focusing their marketing energy Sing 2, which debuts on December 22, 2021.
