Sims 4 player has created an incredibly detailed homage to the cartoon Spongebob Squarepants in-game, building and decorating several locations from the series. Recreating pop-culture locales in The Sims 4 is a popular pastime for players, who often design everything from famous movie scenes to classic video game locations. Having sold over 36 million copies since its release in 2014, The Sims 4 is one of the most popular simulation games of all time, with a massive creative community.

Players are given a lot of freedom in the Sims series, not only in terms of controlling their Sims' lives but in building and decorating the world around them. When it comes to recreating locations from pop culture, players have many tools at their disposal. Options like custom roofing, siding, and topographic controls let players create unique exteriors, alongside a myriad of indoor items, flooring, and wallpaper that allow for extremely detailed indoor design. Since its release, many expansion packs for The Sims 4 have been released that add new worlds and new objects for players to decorate with, furthering design potential even more.

Reddit user daniellebuilds has built an expansive recreation of Bikini Bottom, featuring both interior and exterior designs. The post's slideshow begins with the expertly designed home exteriors of Spongebob, Squidward, and Patrick, which despite their strange shapes are all perfect replicas of how they appear in the show. They've also built each home's interior, with Spongebob's bedroom, Squidward's living room, and Patrick's barren sandy interior all featured. What follows is an extremely detailed build of The Krusty Krab set on the sandy shores of Sulani, the tropical world from The Sims 4: Island Living expansion. They've managed to recreate the restaurant's unique exterior, as well as every room of the business. Perhaps most impressive is the user's recreation of Sandy Cheeks' treedome, a large transparent dome that's incredibly difficult to make using The Sims 4's Build Mode. Like all the other builds, this one includes classic details from the show like Sandy's rocket and the tree she resides in.

All of this user's designs are incredibly impressive and must have taken an extensive amount of time to get all the details just right. Clearly, a big fan of the Spongebob series, the amount of work they put into this Bikini Bottom build is nothing short of amazing. Typically, builds this complicated would require Sims 4 custom content to properly recreate their source material. Astonishingly, this group of designs utilizes only content included in the game itself, further emphasizing the skill of the builder.

The creative community surrounding The Sims 4 is a large part of why the game has maintained its popularity even 7 years after its release. Users are consistently sharing their designs, and regardless of if they are recreations of famous places or original builds they provide a source of inspiration for the rest of the community. Whether other players choose to download these user-made builds from The Sims Gallery to use for their own storytelling, or are motivated to create something of their own, the creativity is contagious. With all of the amazing content made by The Sims's community, it's clear that the creative user base is a large reason for the longevity of The Sims 4.
