The newest Sims 4 Game Pack has been officially announced, focusing on a new occult Sim: werewolves. Although a leak earlier this week revealed the new Sims Game Pack cover art, until now players hadn't received any details on what its actual gameplay would entail. This official announcement is bound to excite many fans, particularly those who enjoy supernatural Sim gameplay.

A staple in every Sims installment to date, occult Sims - defined as any Sims with special powers, like vampires, aliens, and werewolves - add exciting new gameplay options to the typical day-to-day life of in-game characters. In The Sims 4, most occult Sims have different ranks they can ascend by using their powers, alongside a corresponding skill tree that grants them new abilities over time. Many players have long requested werewolves be added to the game for a myriad of reasons, and even before the Game Pack's image leak Sims 4 developers have been teasing the arrival of werewolves through a series of cryptic coded messages.

A press release from EA has confirmed that the next Sims 4 Game Pack will indeed be werewolf-themed, entitled simply Sims 4 Werewolves. A new world - Moonwood Mill - is included in the new Game Pack, and seems to contain a lot of werewolf lore for players to uncover, with the press release teasing "secrets of the werewolves." Players will now be able to transform into werewolves, as well as join packs with others, and experience "wolf-specific life events." Werewolves can also be affected by the stages of the moon and will have to manage "new temperaments" as part of their lycanthropy. The trailer was shared by The Sims on Twitter, which confirms a June 16 release date.

Like previous occult Sims Game Packs, this one seems to offer plenty of options when it comes to players customizing their supernatural experience and in-game narrative - whether they want to make a powerful creature or recreate Twilight in The Sims 4, there seems to be something for everyone. Some features could sound familiar to some long-time Sims 4 players: temperaments may be similar to the Weaknesses system from the Vampires Game Pack, or Fame Quirks from the Get Famous Expansion Pack - as players' characters grow more powerful, they must either acquire weaknesses manually or have them assigned based on their behavior. Some players are also wondering how similar the forming of werewolf packs will be in comparison to forming clubs in the Get Together Expansion Pack.

This new Game Pack is sure to pique the interest of many players, even those who are typically not interested in Sims 4 DLC releases. Even though the finer details of the Game Pack have yet to be revealed, the addition of a new occult Sim is a welcome one for lots of fans, particularly veteran Sims players. The werewolf life state was introduced far earlier in other entries in the series, leaving many to wonder if werewolves would ever make it to The Sims 4. After seven years, players can finally spice up their typical Sims 4 gameplay with lycanthropy later this month.
