The next expansion for The Sims 4 has been unveiled and it's based on a crossover with the ever-popular Star Wars franchise. The reveal was made during Gamescom 2020's Opening Night showcase, hosted by none other than Geoff Keighley. While news of an official Game Pack for The Sims 4 was made prior to the DLC's reveal, many gamers were left wondering just what form the additional content would take.

The Sims 4 has been booming in 2020, with the game surpassing over 30 million players during what has since been dubbed its "best quarter ever" and the momentum doesn't appear to be slowing down quite yet. The title has been able to remain relevant thanks to constant updates and content drops that give players the ability to constantly upgrade or redesign their in-game homes. For example, the lastest "Stuff Pack" was labelled as the Nifty Knitting Pack and added a number of new creations for players' Sims to, that's right, knit – but EA took the opportunity to reveal something a little more exciting recently.

As announced at Gamescom 2020, the newly-revealed Game Pack for The Sims 4 (now dubbed Star Wars Journey To Batuu) is inspired by the attraction present at Disney Land and Disney World resorts. The trailer showcases a number of familiar faces from Star Wars that gamers will instantly recognize. Additionally, Sims aficionados won't have long to wait either, as the Game Pack is set to arrive on September 8, 2020 on PC (via Steam and Origin), PS4, and Xbox One.

Some gamers may have been able to see this coming after a Baby Yoda statue appeared in The Sims 4 earlier this year. The in-game prop was thought to simply be a fun tie-in to the incredibly popular Disney+ show known as The Mandalorian, but perhaps it had a much deeper meaning with this new reveal. Whatever the intent of that prop truly was, the addition of more Star Wars content is more than welcomed.

With crossover content becoming commonplace within The Sims 4, one has to wonder if there is even a need for a sequel. The Sims 5 is something that has long been desired by avid players of the current iteration, but news on that front is non-existant. Of course, fans are sure to go crazy for the new title if and when EA ever decided to pull the curtain back on a followup.
