EA has confirmed The Sims 4 Spa Day will be getting a pack refresh, and details of the new content have been revealed ahead of schedule thanks to a leak. Sims 4 Spa Day is a Game Pack, an expansion for the base game that introduces more content than a Stuff Pack or Kit, but less than a full-blown Sims 4 Expansion Pack such as the recently-released The Sims 4 Cottage Living.

The original Sims 4 Spa Day pack introduced a new venue type, the spa, along with three pre-built spas and a new gym. The pack also added a host of Create-A-Sim and Build/Buy items, as well as the Wellness skill, improved through yoga, meditation, and giving massages. For those who don't own it, The Sims 4 Spa Day includes lots of daily interactions and activities that make it a must-own pack for many Simmers, especially those with an interest in fitness and relaxation. The Sims 4 Spa Day is one of the oldest Sims 4 expansions, releasing in 2015, just less than a year after the base game.

EA has been teasing a pack refresh for Spa Day for a while, with The Sims team finally confirming across social media that a new Spa Day trailer will reveal all at 10am PST on September 3. As spotted by Sims Community (via TechRaptor), details of the refresh and the new content it will bring have leaked ahead of the trailer thanks to a backend update of the Sims website. The refresh will reportedly add the new High Maintenance trait, as well as the ability for Sims to earn money by teaching mindfulness to others. The Wellness skill will also be developed to add the Zen Guru and Self-Care Specialist aspirations. Kids will be able to take part in Wellness activities, while manicures, pedicures, and facial masks will also be added to the game. Simmers will be able to play with nail colors, designs, and shapes, adding further creativity to Sim character designs. Unfortunately, the leak didn't give a release date for the new content, but it will be a free update for those who already own The Sims 4 Spa Day.

Update (9/3/2021 4:35 PM EDT): The Sims 4 Spa Day Game Pack refresh's trailer has been released as planned, and it will go live on September 7. Click here to watch the trailer.

Players can expect to see the Sims 4 pack update in action when the trailer goes live, which will hopefully also reveal the release date for the new content. The pack refresh also paves the way for similar updates in the future, which could address lots of Simmers' issues with previous pack launches. With a total of 10 current Game Packs, 11 Expansion Packs, 18 Stuff packs, and five Kits in The Sims 4 catalog, there's plenty of scope for new additions and content to be added as part of future pack refreshes.

The next Sims 4 Expansion Pack hasn't yet been announced, and it could be a while away if the Sims developer is planning to focus on pack refreshes as opposed to full releases. It's not clear if the developer will continue to regularly refresh prior packs, or if players can expect to see them as surprise announcements. The Spa Day pack refresh announcement coincides with The Sims 4's seventh birthday, which could mean that future pack refreshes will only be similar celebratory releases. Hopefully, The Sims will clarify future content and pack refreshes during tomorrow's trailer reveal and developer livestream.
