When the The Sims 4 developers at Maxis Studios announced back in September that they would be revealing deals about the newest Sims 4 expansion pack that wouldn’t include any of the fan-favorite items and features that players have been asking for, it left players wondering just what the next expansion pack for The Sims 4 would include. Players won’t have to wonder anymore, however, as Maxis has officially announced the newest expansion pack: The Sims 4: Snowy Escape, and it looks to be a winter wonderland that the entire Sims family can enjoy.

Despite The Sims 4 having terrain tools, all of the worlds in The Sims 4 are flat. While there might be mountains in the background of the game, none of the lots in The Sims 4 utilize things such as slopes, curves, hills, or mountains. Players could always download lots that utilize the terrain tool from The Sims 4 Gallery, but on its own, The Sims 4 and every world in it is flat. The Sims 4: Snowy Escape might be different. The official trailer for the new Sims 4 expansion pack shows various scenes of Sims moving about on landscapes that are not flat, such as slopes, a bridge, and a mountain. Perhaps this is a sign that Maxis will begin to utilize the terrain tool and give worlds in The Sims 4 more depth.

There is a lot coming in The Sims 4: Snowy Escape expansion pack.

The Sims 4 Snowy Escape Mt. Komorebi

Mt. Komorebi is the new world included in The Sims 4: Snowy Escape expansion pack. This is a Japanese-inspired mountainous location filled with traditional Japanese architecture, items, and activities such as temples, onsen bathhouses, Koi fish fountains, and tatami mats. With both modern and tradition Japanese items in the Build/Buy catalogue, players can create all kinds of Japanese-inspired buildings. Mt. Komorebi could be inspired by Mt. Fuji on the island of Honshū in Japan. With the recent fan backlash about inclusion and representation in The Sims 4, it’s good that Maxis added a world inspired by Asian culture.
