New items and recipes have come to The Sims 4 with the latest Sims Delivery Express - also known as SDX - alongside a new frog catching scenario. Recently, most SDX releases have been accompanied by a new Sims scenario, adding an extra layer of free content to the game. The massively popular simulation game has received a lot of extra content since its release in 2014, both free and paid, with the new Sims Delivery Express drops being introduced in late 2021.

The concept of both scenarios and Sims Delivery Express are fairly new to The Sims 4. SDX is the more recent of the two and centers around the concept of adding content to the game small enough that downloading a new update for the game isn't necessary to acquire them. Since they began, SDX drops have often featured various multicultural items, such as regional foods and traditional clothing. Scenarios came only weeks before SDX's inception, introducing new story-based challenges to The Sims 4. Players are tasked with helping their Sims achieve various goals, focusing on everything from rising to the top of a career to patching up a romantic relationship. Some scenarios are playable for a limited time only, while others are always available.

The new SDX and scenario were announced by The Sims Twitter account this week, detailing the new foods, clothing, and items that are included as well as teasing the new frog-centric scenario. As a belated nod the Earth Day, the new SDX features a unisex "Earth Love" tank top in several different swatches. Keeping with the nature theme, a new plant has been added, a cactus called a Night-Blooming Cereus. As has been the trend with Sims Delivery Express, two cultural dishes are also highlighted - the savory pastry Zaatar Manakeesh and the sweet pastry Knafeh. The new scenario, entitled "Frog Fanatic," is described by EA as "a Sim frantically trying to gather all the frog facts of the world." The scenario runs until May 24th.

Although a bit late for Earth Day, a nature-themed update is a great addition to The Sims 4. The new scenario is a perfect way to encourage players to partake in activities they may otherwise overlook in the game. Although collecting environmental objects and creatures have always been possible in The Sims 4, it's something many players may not even be aware of. This new content comes on the heels of a large Sims 4 UI overhaul update that occurred earlier this week, which annoyed many players due to the fact that updates often break mods and custom content. In comparison, the free and unobtrusive addition of content to the game through SDX is a relief for many fans.

Sims Delivery Express drops are never filled to the brim with new content, but that doesn't mean they aren't worthwhile additions to the game. They achieve exactly what they are meant to by surprising players with a few new items to play with in-game, showcase items from different cultures, and ideally renew player interest in The Sims 4. Scenarios help to cure Sims players' burnout as well. While it's still unknown what the future holds for Sims 4 DLC releases, these small additions are a great way to tide players over in the meantime.
