It looks as if support for The Sims 4 is still going strong, as EA has reported over 20 million users have played the life simulation game to-date. Although EA's Maxis Studios have recently been reported to be working on a new, as-of-yet unnannounced title, they haven't abandoned The Sims 4, which recently received a band-new game expansion in the form of The Sims 4: Discover University.

Discover University returned the characters in The Sims 4 to the collegiate lifestyle popularized in other Sims expansion packs like University LifeIn it, players could attend two different types of colleges, build robots, and earn degrees which would allow them to access high-paying and unique jobs. Another recent Sims 4 expansion, Tiny Living, allows players to create their own tiny homes and try to see how much they can minimize their living quarters while still fulfilling all of their character's basic needs.

Thanks to a new quarterly financial report from EA, fans now know The Sims 4 has "surpassed 20 million unique players worldwide life-to-date," which is an impressive figure for something which is occasionally derided by some of the more elitist gamers as a niche title. The report also states that, overall, "it was an exciting third quarter" for EA, which is also thanks in part to their other titles like Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, Need For Speed Heatand the recently-released action adventure game Star Was Jedi: Fallen Order.

Although many fans are beginning to think about features they wish to see in a theoretical Sims 5, it doesn't appear as if EA has any intentions on stopping support for The Sims 4 anytime soon. The franchise has remained surprisingly relevant in the two decades since it originally released, likely due to its ability to know exactly what their main fanbase wants, exemplified in The Sims 4's official Baby Yoda statue.

From Island Living to Tiny Homes, it seems as if the team behind The Sims 4 is constantly coming up with new ideas, mechanics, and functions for players to interact with. While some may land better than others (looking at you, Katy Perry's Sweet Treats) the majority of these expansions only serve to make the base game more entertaining, and although there is still no word yet on if The Sims 4 will ever receive a massive complete edition containing all of the many Sims DLC packs EA has released so far in one place, it appears new players are still arriving to The Sims 4 almost every day.
