The Sims 4 Reveals Pastel Pop Kit & Everyday Clutter Kit

In a press kit, The Sims 4 officially confirmed the Pastel Pop Kit and the Everyday Clutter Kit, which are coming to the game on November 10th. The Pastel Pop Kit focuses on pastel patterns and irregular shapes, while the Everyday Clutter Kit features scattered household items that can be used to display a Sim's hobby or personal passion.

Two upcoming Sims 4 Kits have been revealed in a leak, and will reportedly be titled Everyday Clutter and Pastel Pop with a focus on in-game decor. Kits have always elicited mixed reactions from players - past Sims 4 Kits have disappointed players with their lack of interactive items, but some fans enjoy the new items and clothing that the bite-sized DLC bring to the game. Kits are the smallest size of DLC available for The Sims 4, containing a handful of specially-themed clothing items or furniture.

A Tweet from the account TURBODRIVER (via SimsCommunity), a popular modder, has revealed the name and multiple images of two upcoming Sims 4 Kits. The new Kits are reportedly entitled Everyday Clutter and Pastel Pop, with images of the former showing rooms filled with items like stacks of books, jewelry organizers, and desk supplies, and the latter showcasing rooms with light pink, purple, and blue hues. Currently, no release date has been given for the Kits, and they have yet to be officially confirmed by EA.

It's Unlikely The Sims 4 Will Learn From Past Kit Mistakes

While Kits do serve their purpose of providing very specific sets of new items fans have long requested, like new Sims 4 kid's clothing, as a whole Kits have always come up short when it comes to delivering what players really want. One of the biggest pitfalls of Kits, besides their small size, is the fact that their items are largely entirely cosmetic. For example, while a Kit containing children's items could've been one of the series' most successful, the Little Campers Kit fell flat as the items were only useful aesthetically.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely this will change for Kits any time soon. Kits have quickly become the most common Sims 4 DLC release largely because of how easy they are for EA to produce. New items and clothing released on their own, without needing any new animations to be crafted for them, is a great way to quickly and consistently release new content for the game - however, most Sims 4 fans would prefer more sizable content updates. While the recent Behind The Sims Summit presentation did announce that two Expansion Packs - the largest DLC size - will be coming in 2023, as well as an updated life stage for in-game infants, those more meaningful additions are still a long way off.

Of course, as with all leaks, it's important that players wait for an official announcement from The Sims 4 team about these new Kits before they form too strong of an opinion. However, the source of the leak is considered quite credible with The Sims community, and the images featured look like those that typically accompany new Kits. While it's unfair to say that these new Kits won't appeal to any players - particularly the one centered around clutter, a favorite type of decor for Sims 4 designers - they also likely won't elicit an incredibly positive response either. For players who only recently came to The Sims 4 after it became free, the cheaper DLC releases may be a good way to foray into additional content for their game, but most Sims 4 players will probably be holding out for the larger releases coming in 2023.
