The Sims 4 has expanded its base game to include infants as an aging stage between newborns (formerly babies) and toddlers. Infants have a larger range of interactions than newborns as they explore the world. Players can monitor their moods and needs in the same way as grown Sims, further enhancing the realism of the game. Players with the Growing Together Expansion Pack can work towards infant milestones, giving the infant a wider range of actions and truly developing them before becoming toddlers.

The Sims 4 Growing Together Expansion Pack allows players to explore more realistic family dynamics with their Sims, fleshing out relationships throughout the game. All age groups have their own Milestones that can affect their development and growth. The infant milestones focus on developing fine and gross motor skills, social interactions, and "firsts" such as the first bath.

How To Unlock Fine Motor Milestones

One of the main categories for infant milestones in the Sims 4 is Fine Motor skills. Fine Motor focuses on the infant's ability to manipulate their hands and fingers with the same grace and control adults take for granted. Most milestone categories for infants must be unlocked in chronological order while playing as an infant in the Sims 4.

Infants unlock Fine Motor milestones in the following order: Learned to Reach, Learned to Grab, Put Toe In Mouth, Learned To Wave, Learned To Clap, and Learned Pincher Grasp.

Players unlock Fine Motor infant milestones in the Sims 4 by allowing their infant to play with toys or other utensils. Initially, adult Sims must give the infant the toys needed, but eventually, the infant can grab toys by themselves. The more the infant plays with toys, the more likely they will unlock a milestone.

How To Unlock Sit Up And Other Gross Motor Milestones

Gross Motor is a category of infant milestones in the Sims 4 focused on larger movements. The order of milestones includes Lifted Head, Rolled Over to Back, Rolled Over to Tummy, Learned to Creep, Learned to Sit Up, Pulled To Stand, Learned To Dance, and Learned To Crawl.

The relationships in Sims 4 Growing Together help unlock these milestones, as adults must initiate "Tummy Time" activities with the infant. During this time, adults can help the infant "Practice Standing" and "Practice Crawling". Like the Fine Motor category, infants eventually unlock the ability to trigger "Tummy Time" alone.

How To Unlock Social Milestones

Infants unlock their Social milestones in the Sims 4 through observation and interaction with other Sims. This category is chronological, including milestones like First Smiled, Learned to Coo, Learned to Laugh, Learned to Babble, Learned to Blow Kiss, and Learned Peek-A-Boo.

Players should send their older Sims to show the infant some love, which will speed up the milestone process and grow infants into developed toddlers in Sims 4.

How to Unlock Firsts

The Firsts category of infant milestones in the Sims 4 is the only one of its kind that does not have a chronological order. Firsts include First Bath, First Bubblebath, First Diaper Blowout, First Visitors, First Baby Food, First Finger Food, Peed on Caregiver, and Slept Through The Night.

There are three different ways players unlock these milestones. The first is through fulfilling the baby's basic needs. The second is through monitoring the infant to find the perfect opportunity to unlock milestones like Slept Through The Night. Lastly, some milestones require milestones from other categories to achieve, like First Finger Food requiring Learned Pincher Grasp.

Infant milestones help improve the infant's skills when they become a toddler and reward special traits. Completing all infant milestones unlocks the Top-Notch Infant trait for a more positive Sim moving forward. The new milestone system is exactly what family-oriented Sims 4 players have been waiting for. It encourages players to develop and engage with their new infants through the Sims 4 Growing Together expansion.
