The newest expansion of The Sims 4, the Werewolf DLC, allows players to turn into Werewolves. When players download and install the Werewolf DLC pack, they can create families in the new Moonwood Mill neighborhood. As players explore new features and abilities, they have the opportunity to turn into Werewolves, engage in new aspirations, and even eat livestock in the Werewolves DLC.

The Werewolf DLC is not the first time players have been able to engage in the occult in The Sims franchise history. Back in 2003, there was a DLC for the original The Sims game called Makin' Magic, where players could cast spells, have dragons as pets, and visit the curious Magic Town. Later, in The Sims 3: Supernatural, players could create witches, werewolves, vampires, ghosts, and fairies. There have always been occult elements in The Sims, so there was no surprise when EA Games announced the Werewolf DLC, which dropped on June 16th, 2022. Unlike previous games, players can turn into Werewolves during gameplay in The Sims 4.

There are four main ways players can turn into Werewolves in The Sims 4: Werewolf DLC. Once turned, players can transform into Werewolf form, have different temperaments, and even be affected by the different phases of the moon. The phases of the moon are already part of the base game; near the bottom of the screen, next to the time of day, players can hover over the image of the moon to see what phase the moon is in. At night, there is the option to "moonbathe," where players can lay on the ground and soak up the moon's reflected light for various character buffs. In The Sims 4: Werewolf, players will transform on the full moon. Interestingly enough, buried in the Werewolf DLC lore, players can even find references to Twilight.

How to Become a Werewolf in The Sims 4: Werewolf

Howling Werewolves in Sims 4

There are four main ways players can turn into a Werewolf in The Sims 4:

  • Create a new sim as a Werewolf in the character creation screen, Create a Sim. Players can choose between 6 basic faces, 10 ear configurations, 8 different cheek tufts, 5 nose shapes, 10 teeth, 7 chin tufts, and the usual set of accessories and clothes.
  • Cheat Codes. To enable cheats, open up the cheat box command and type in "traits.equip_trait trait_occultwerewolf" to turn Sims into a werewolf. To turn them back, use "traits.remove_trait trait_occultwerewolf". To open up cheat comments on PC, type Ctrl + Shift + C. For Mac, type Command + Shift + C. On console, use all four triggers to activate Sims 4 cheats.
  • Be born as a Werewolf, which is possible if at least one parent is a Werewolf. Like with actual genetics, there is a 50% chance of a new baby being born a Werewolf if only one parent carries the gene.
  • Get bitten by a Werewolf. Players don't need to worry about walking around the dark at night; they can ask a Werewolf with the Cursed Bite ability to do it, and the player will transform.

Even if players download the Werewolf DLC, they still have the choice of whether or not they want to become a Werewolf. There is a lot of lore to find in The Sims 4's Moonwood Mill. By exploring the area, players can find hidden paths that lead to different organizations, like the Moonwood Collective, a group of Werewolves "whose mission embodies the union of lycanthropy and philanthropy." Or perhaps players want to walk more on the wild side and join the Wildfangs, a "scrappy, free-spirited group of Werewolves." Regardless, The Sims 4: Werewolf DLC offers players a bevy of new content and opportunities.
