The Sims 4 has added plenty of additional content in the years following its release, but expansions and packs tend to favor some life stages more than others. Multiple expansions for The Sims 4 have broadened specific life stages as the core element of the new content rather than just receiving new items for various stages such as clothes or hairstyles. Out of all the life stages in The Sims, children and elders seem to receive the least amount of attention for new content.

As a life simulation game, it might not be surprising that certain life stages have received more focus since there are milestones such as going to university for young adults, which is available in the Discover University expansion. Soon, there will be an update for babies in The Sims 4, and while it will be a welcome change to have babies be more than furniture, they aren't the only ones who could use improvement. Children and elders in The Sims 4 could use at least an expansion dedicated to each one.

Elders Deserve A Golden Years Expansion In The Sims 4

An expansion dedicated to the elder life stage in The Sims 4 could include a new neighborhood with retirement communities. Other additions in a golden years expansion could be community centers that host activities like bingo and card games. Aside from the ability to retire and Needs that decay faster, very little sets elders apart from adults and young adults in The Sims 4. An expansion that focuses on events and activities that happen post-retirement could be a good start when it comes to improving the elder stage.

The Sims 4 Needs An Expansion To Improve Child Sims

The Sims 4 High School Pack and its classes gave teenagers their own equivalent to active careers with active school days. This creates a precedent that could also be applied to children with their own school days, which can include recess and a chance to make friends during an active school day. A school expansion for children could also be a good opportunity to add more activities for kids in The Sims 4 such as joining band, clubs, or sports teams.

The Sims 4 has added a lot of content since its release, but there are still some aspects in which the game is lacking. While the details are yet unknown, there will be two new Sims 4 Expansion Packs in 2023. Because they haven't received as much attention so far, it might be a good move for the developers to add content for elders and children in the upcoming expansions for The Sims 4.
