The Simpsons released a new short for Star Wars Day starring Maggie, and through it, it added another substance as strong as lightsabers, and it’s a very unconventional one. As it happens every May 4, Star Wars fans around the world celebrated this unique universe in different ways, and Disney didn’t stay behind. The Mouse House took advantage of some of the content that arrived on the Fox package to celebrate Star Wars Day, and so it brought a new Simpsons short film that mixes these two worlds.

The Disney/Fox merge brought a variety of content to Disney for all ages and tastes, and among the most notable titles is The Simpsons. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, and the rest of Springfield are now part of the Disney family, but that doesn’t mean they will stop mocking and criticizing other events, celebrities, and pop culture products, including those from their new home. For Star Wars Day, Disney shared a new Simpsons short titled The Force Awakens From Its Nap, starring Maggie Simpson in a bizarre adventure at preschool.

It all starts with Maggie being taken to Jabba’s Hut Jedi Preschool, where characters like Ahsoka Tano and Grievous are tasked with looking after the kids (and freezing in carbonite those who create too much trouble), and it’s the latter who takes Maggie’s pacifier away. Maggie is then approached by BB8 who had a message from her pacifier, and after leading her through a room full of BB8 droids, it’s killed by the unibrow baby (dressed as Darth Maul). Maggie and the unibrow baby engage in a lightsaber duel, with Maggie using an unlikely object as a lightsaber: her pacifier.

When it was time to fight, Maggie effortlessly took her pacifier and turned it into a lightsaber, and the weapon was strong enough to withstand the fight against a proper, double-bladed lightsaber like the one the unibrow baby had. These weapons unique to the Star Wars universe are made of a plasma blade (powered by a kyber crystal) emitted from a metal hilt that can be shut off at will. A lightsaber is powerful enough to cut through almost anything, though there are many materials in the Star Wars universe resistant to lightsabers. In order to block the attack of a lightsaber, you’d have to use a weapon made with material that conducts energy (such as some rare metals, another lightsaber, or an electrostaff), which is why Maggie using her pacifier to fight against the unibrow baby is a curious thing. Through that, Disney just made Maggie’s favorite pacifier a weapon as strong as a lightsaber, though it might not be able to cut through a variety of materials like a normal lightsaber.

Of course, The SimpsonsStar Wars short isn’t canon and doesn’t make much sense even within the context of a galaxy far, far away (case in point: Maggie resurrecting as a Maggie/Grogu hybrid, for some reason), but it added yet another substance/object with the same power and durability as a lightsaber – and showed that Maggie didn’t need to go through training to give a good fight, as if she was already a skilled Jedi.
