The Simpsons Are Coming To The 2019 D23 Expo

The Simpsons - Homer Woo Hoo

The Simpsons are making their first appearance at D23 Expo this year. After more than a year of rumors and multiple twists and turns, Disney’s acquisition of Fox was finally completed in March of this year. Among the assets included in this deal are 20th Century Fox Animation, Fox Searchlight Pictures, 20th Century Fox Television, and FX Networks. With this, a wide catalogue of titles are now Disney’s property, including the animated sitcom, The Simpsons.

It’s hard to believe that Springfield’s most famous family is now part of the Disney family, and although it might be too soon to say how (or if) this will affect the show (especially its satirical tone), fans can rest assured knowing that there will be more of Homer and company as The Simpsons was renewed for seasons 31 and 32. Until then, The Simpsons are getting ready for their first appearance at Disney’s very own convention, D23 Expo.

The D23 Expo team has announced that Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, and the rest of the notable citizens of Springfield are coming to the convention. Series creator Matt Groening, executive producers Al Jean and Matt Selman, and supervising director Mike B. Anderson will be joined by stars Nancy Cartwright (Bart) and Yeardley Smith (Lisa) to talk about the upcoming season in a panel that will take place on Saturday, August 24 at 10am. Who knows? They might even reveal a scene or a couch gag referencing Fox’s acquisition by Disney.

According to D23 Expo, Simpsons fans can expect “lots of surprises” during the panel, including an exclusive collectible item for everyone in attendance. If you are planning on going, you should also considering stopping by their booth at the convention floor as you can get the opportunity to meet Matt Groening and the rest of the guests mentioned above during an autograph session of an exclusive mini-poster right after the panel.

Although The Simpsons have had a place at San Diego Comic-Con for a while now, thanks to the Disney/Fox merge they now have a reserved place at D23 Expo for years to come. If anything, this will give the show even more exposure (not that it really needs it), allow more fans the chance to meet the cast and crew, and enjoy the perks that come with their favorite series having a booth at a big convention - or two.

D23 Expo will take place from August 23-25 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
