Adidas is uniting with The Simpsons for new special edition shoe collaborations that honor Flaming Moes and Duff Beer. Fans of the record-breaking animated series have long-since grown accustomed to its plentiful range of merchandise, with T-shirts bearing Bart Simpson’s likeness having been the first major-selling Simpsons item back in the early 1990s. Today, The Simpsons are so widely known and recognized that even the most obscure characters have been turned into action figures or other collectible memorabilia.
It’s certainly not unusual for a hit TV series to have such an extensive selection of collectibles, and with the end of the series currently nowhere in sight, there’s sure to be more to come. It is arguable, however, that among all the different available Simpsons collector’s items, Simpsons-inspired clothing has repeatedly proven itself to be a favorite of many fans. Two new pairs of Simpsons themed shoes have arrived from Adidas. Available now, The Flaming Moes use the ZX 1000 silhouette and are primarily done in purple with red accents. Flame motifs can be seen on the sides of the shoes, along with Flaming Moes insignia on the tongues. The other set of Simpsons shoes, The Simpsons x Adidas Forum 84 Low Duff Beer, are made to mimic an aluminum can of Springfield’s favorite lager. While both pairs of shoes are sure to be big sellers, The Sole Supplier also revealed that interest in The Simpsons has increased by 143.9% in the U.S. and 400% in the UK in the wake of the Flaming Moes’ release. As anyone who maintains even a vague interest in shoes knows, collaborations such as this one between Adidas and The Simpsons will likely result in fast-selling shoes that skyrocket in price upon re-sale.
While the Duff Beer shoes are certainly a great way to celebrate The Simpsons, it’s the Flaming Moe Adidas shoes that offer fans something a little more unique. The Flaming Moe’s episode of The Simpsons took place in the third season and featured a guest appearance from Aerosmith. It remains one of the most beloved episodes of the entire series, as Moe steals a secret drink recipe from Homer in order to salvage the dismal financial state of his pub. Aside from the episode’s popularity, the entire third season is one of the biggest fan-favorites and even recently received the seal of approval as the best Simpsons season ever, from former series writer, John Swartzwelder.
