Warning: contains spoilers for Silver Surfer Rebirth #3!

The Silver Surfer has just assembled one of the strongest teams in the Marvel Universe, and the members are all variants of himself. The shining centurion of the cosmos frequently flies through space, using his phenomenal power to save innocents from cosmic-level supervillains against which not even the Avengers can fight. But in Silver Surfer Rebirth #3, the titular Surfer needs help - and he gets it in the form of multiple multiversal variants of himself.

The Surfer is most famous for his first appearance in the famed Fantastic Four three-book series The Galactus Trilogy. Working as the herald of the planet-eater Galactus, the Surfer made a deal with the Devil of sorts: he would direct Galactus to new worlds to devour if Galactus spared his home planet. Galactus agreed, and the two worked together for eons. It was only thanks to Alicia Masters' emotional speech to the Surfer that the planet was spared; the Surfer rebelled against Galactus and the former master released the man once called Norrin Radd from his service - but he could never again leave Earth (this was later reversed and the Surfer could travel as he pleases).

In the new series Silver Surfer Rebirth, the Surfer has witnessed strange goings-on going on through the universe. This is all revealed to be connected with the Reality Gem; entrusted to Thanos by Adam Warlock but now stolen, the Surfer and the Mad Titan search for the gem and the new, mysterious wielder. Warping from universe to universe, the Surfer finds himself under the control of Galactus once again, and the Surfer rebels once more. But a portal emerges in the heat of the fight, revealing not one but four individual Silver Surfers, each identical. "How can this be...how can it be me!?" the Surfer exclaims.

The Silver Surfer wields the Power Cosmic, which is arguably one of the strongest forces in the Marvel Universe. With the Power Cosmic, one can teleport, read minds, emit blasts of energy, and even bring people back from the dead (as seen in Iron Man's most recent arc in which he acquired a portion of the Power Cosmic himself). The Surfers are able to manipulate matter and energy on a scale virtually unmatched (except for beings such as Galactus and the Living Tribunal himself).

There is a chance that these Surfer entities are not multiversal variants, but are instead versions of himself from his past and future (the Surfer's design rarely changes in Marvel Comics). According to the Annihilation War, no two versions of the Power Cosmic are alike, as the power is drawn from the individuals' aura (and no two people are alike). This means that the Silver Surfer variant team has unmatched powers, and they compliment each other in a fight.
