The Silver Surfer is bringing out the big guns to take on the King in Black, as he'll turn his iconic board into an all-new weapon in his upcoming battle against Knull. In a new preview for King in Black #5, the Silver Surfer will turn his board into a massive sword, as he prepares for an epic duel against the God of Symbiotes.
The final showdown against the King in Black is about to begin, as Knull's reign and takeover of Earth is about to be challenged in ways it's never been before. In the series' penultimate issue, the Silver Surfer arrived with the Enigma Force, which turns its host into the God of Light, which is the ancient symbiote villain's true counter. With Eddie Brock seemingly being brought back to life by the Enigma Force, the heroes have a path to victory for the first time against Knull.
In a preview for King in Black #5 (courtesy of CBR.com) by Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, JP Mayer, and Frank Martin, the Silver Surfer meets Knull again for the first time since the Silver Surfer: Black series, where the pair fought in the past. Now in the present, the Surfer informs the King in Black that there's a new God of Light who's prepared to take him down for good. Surfer changes his board into a long sword, as the epic showdown is about to begin.
The upcoming battle is essentially a sequel to Knull and Silver Surfer's fight in Silver Surfer Black. In that comic, the Surfer turns his board into a black and white sword (which was likely both colors due to the cosmic hero's hand turning black due to the abyss) and faces off against the King in Black, who wields All-Black the Necrosword. The Silver Surfer was able to temporarily stop Knull by using the Power Cosmic to create a star and blast him with light.
Now, Silver Surfer will need to channel the Power Cosmic and hope that the Enigma Force will bring Eddie Brock into the fight. In order to stop Knull, even a hero as powerful as the Silver Surfer will need some help. With his own sword, formed from the Power Cosmic, that's a good start. However, even his board transforming into an even more powerful weapon, ending the King in Black's takeover will require even more firepower. King in Black #5 is in comic shops and available online on April 7, 2021.
