Netflix has debuted the first trailer for its upcoming sci-fi mystery thriller, The Silent SeaThe series, set in 2075, follows a group of astronauts sent to the moon to find a mysterious sample at an abandoned Korean research base. The sample potentially holds the secrets to combating decreasing natural resources back on Earth, but before the astronauts can complete their mission, things at the base take a deadly turn. Based on a critically acclaimed short by the show's director Choi Hang-yong, The Silent Sea stars a stellar cast, with Squid Game alumni Gong Yoo taking the lead role as Han Yoon-jae and Kingdom's Bae Doona starring as astrobiologist Doctor Song Ji-an.

Now, the first trailer for The Silent Sea, released by Netflix, teases terror both at home and in space. The trailer opens with a foreboding shot of an arid city on Earth, while a newscaster confirms that the world's water will further reduce by 40% in the next ten years. Despite showing more of a devastated Earth, the trailer's focus shifts to the astronauts' mission to the Moon to find a solution to humanity's problems. Things quickly spiral, with the astronauts establishing that something isn't right with the facility. Their suspicions are confirmed when they find corridors stacked with bodies, and a monitor hints that someone, or something, is on board the station with them. Check out the trailer below:
