This week brings the new horror/thriller Silent House, which stars up-and-coming actress Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene) as an imperiled girl facing an ominous threat inside an equally ominous house. Today we have a new atmospheric clip from the film to share.
Trailers for Silent House have been big on selling the film's unique "single-take" format; for those unfamiliar, the idea of "single-take" is that the entire film is just one long, uninterrupted shot of footage, as opposed to the many cuts and edits you get with your typical movie. For an idea of how it looks on film, check out this explanation of a similar technique used in Children of Men.
Check out a synopsis for Silent House below, then check out the new clip:
Trapped inside her family's lakeside retreat, a young woman named Sarah (Elizabeth Olsen) finds she is unable to contact the outside world as events become increasingly ominous in and around the house.
This film is still something of a mystery in regards to wether or not the threat Sarah faces is human or supernatural. A clip like this - taken in conjunction with the end scene of the trailer - suggests that the threat is supernatural; the fact that the film has a "based on true events" tagline would on the other hand suggest the threat is something more grounded and real. Guess we'll know for sure when the movie is out.
Silent House will be in theaters on March 9, 2012.
