Japanese horror manga artist Suehiro Maruo has leaked suggestive images onto his Instagram story that imply he is working on the possible return of Silent Hills. After its cancellation in 2015, fans yearned for the possibilities of what could have been with the exciting project. Speculation of a hopeful return to the project has spread numerous times since cancellation, but unfortunately, with each new rumor that rises Konami seems eager to deny the possibility of return.

If Silent Hills was to resurface, it is likely that Konami would enlist popular horror manga artists onto its team, especially since the company has done so before. Junji Ito, the famous manga artist behind Uzumaki and Tomie, collaborated with Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Torro during the production of P.T. and Silent Hills.

According to GamesRadar, it seems like Suehiro Maruo could potentially be meeting to become a concept artist on the team for a new horror game. The artist posted images onto his Instagram story of Konami HQ in Tokyo, Japan along with the entrance sign to Silent Hills with the caption "Afternoon invitation hope you'll join in." This isn't the first time an artist has leaked the possibility of a new game, but, unfortunately, Konami has rejected the rumors of a Silent Hills revival multiple times, along with rumors of other studios buying the Silent Hill IP. However, with more reports accumulating by the day, it seems painfully obvious there's at least something happening at Konami, even if it isn't a Silent Hills game outright.

With two film adaptations and a number of video games, Silent Hill has become a cult classic in the horror genre. The monsters that threaten players in the games, such as Pyramid Head and the Nurses, have become horror icons comparable to those in slasher films. Silent Hill and Resident Evil are some of the longest standing horror franchises in video games and continuously seem to rival one another. With the recently re-released Resident Evil 3 by Capcom and resurgence of the horror genre in video games, Konami's next move could be to tap back into one of its most iconic properties.

It seems like fans of Silent Hills may not be able to get the revival of the canceled game they all dreamed of, but the franchise may still return. Considering that PT has gained notoriety as a standout title with just a little sample, it's no surprise fans hope to see the full-length version of what it was meant to be in all its horrific glory. A completed Konami game with the same elements as P.T. could stand to make waves in a genre that's suddenly vaulted itself back into popular culture.
