One year after its initial release on last-generation platforms, the acclaimed psychological horror game Visage is making its way to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S with an overhauled Enhanced Edition in November. Described as a spiritual predecessor to Silent Hills demo P.T., SadSquare Studio’s survival horror title brings players to a visceral experience set in a suburban home with a dark history. Visage puts the immersive first-person perspective to use by conceptualizing the sense of dread and fear with tension building and paranoia set in a semi-open world enclosed by paranormal events.

Like many other recent horror titles, Visage is heavily inspired by influential horror game, P.T. - a demo for the cancelled Hideo-Kojima-designed project, Silent Hills. Released in 2015, Kojima Production's buzzing teaser was critically acclaimed and its cancellation was met with criticism. One game claimed to be inspired by the deserted project is Resident Evil 7. And while the Capcom title was in development prior to the Kojima demo's release, many believe that Kojima’s horror game design ideas might have influenced Capcom’s departure from its classic third-person perspective in lieu of a first perspective. This was later cemented by the horrific baby chase in Resident Evil: Village, which saw similarities to the fetus from the Silent Hills teaser.

Announced today, SadSquare Studios revealed Visage is coming to next-generation consoles as a free upgrade for those who own the title on last-generation consoles. Labeled the Enhanced Edition, the upgrade will bring 4K resolution and 60 FPS to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S with faster loading times. Additionally, the update will make use of the PlayStation 5's haptic feedback via the DualSense controller for a more immersive horror experience. The unsettling title is available now on Xbox Series X/S and will be coming to PlayStation 5 on an unknown date sometime in November.

While the demo is de-listed and Kojima announced he had no plans on working on another Silent Hill game, Visage is currently considered the closest product fans may have to a Silent Hills release. This may, however change, as fans believe that the long-famed game designer is secretly working on a horror project to revive his original concept. A new mysterious survival horror game for the PlayStation 5 - called Abandoned - is at the center of a conspiracy at the moment, seeing as its ongoing unveiled development is speculated to be a brand-new Kojima Productions horror title, despite its studio repeatedly denying they have any relation.

The frightening ride known as Visage is officially coming out on next-generation platforms and players can experience the horror masterpiece with new quality-of-life additions. Those who are attentive can receive the free upgrade early on Xbox starting today and experience the psychological horror on-par with Kojima Productions' monumental P.T.
