Even though chances of a new Silent Hill game look increasingly slim, but Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals is looking to ease the wait with some crossover DLC. Dark Deception developer Glowstick Entertainment's latest trailer teases a first look at the Silent Hill treatment coming to Monsters & Mortals in February.

Silent Hill still reigns as one of the most prolific horror franchises in gaming, spawning films, novelizations, and spin-off games, but the last proper entry in the franchise came out back in 2012. Many took it for granted that another one was on its way, but as the years ticked by with no news (other than the series creator's departure) any planned sequels were apparently cancelled or heavily delayed. Recently and most concerningly, rumors claimed Konami was dropping gaming altogether, creating fears that Silent Hill hopes were finally dead for good.

Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals, meanwhile, is the latest entry in a franchise that's relatively new to the horror scene. A spin-off of 2018's Dark Deception, Monsters & Mortals expands on the original's universe, but as a multiplayer versus single-player, as an online party game. Players fight through a variety of frightening mazes and modes, as one of the game's many Dark Deception characters. The game originally launched in November 2020, but has already released its first DLC expansion, which brought characters and maps from Mostrum into the Dark Deception universe. And Silent Hill, as revealed by Glowstick Entertainment's teaser, is the next horror franchise to cross over to the Dark Deception side.

The brief trailer doesn't offer up much as far as what the DLC will entail, exactly, only showing some snippets of Silent Hill imagery along with the promise of a new challenger. But with the future of Silent Hill still up in the air, it may serve as a great way to spend time while waiting for the next game to come out - or be a consolation if it turns out that the franchise is, in fact, dead. There's no word on what characters or locations will be included in the DLC, but there's plenty of Silent Hill protagonists to choose from.

The Silent Hill DLC doesn't have a definitive release date according to the video description, but fans of Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals can expect to see it available on Steam sometime in February for purchase and download. The base game is also available on Steam for anyone looking for a new online multiplayer horror party game, and are getting a bit weary of Phasmophobia.
