Recently released action game Sifu will be getting new costumes by way of upcoming updates. The challenging martial arts game previously only offered one basic outfit for the male and female versions of its protagonist, although some Sifu mods have turned the character into Shaggy, Daredevil, and more.

Since its release earlier this month, Sifu has made waves within the gaming community thanks to its flashy, satisfying combat system, impactful aesthetic, and high difficulty. One of the main draws of the game, however, is its unique death and aging system; players start the game at twenty years old, and when they die, the player character ages one year. The amount that the character ages by is increased with each death until they reach their seventies, at which point they only have one more chance. As this aging process occurs, the character model will change in accordance with the age they are meant to be, and their total health will decrease as well. This system allows for a dynamic visual experience while also making the game more challenging, which might explain why so many Sifu players are stuck on the second level.

While the aging mechanic has been the only way to change the character's appearance up until this point, that could change soon. According to a Tweet from the SifuGame Twitter account, players who have purchased the Deluxe Edition of the game will be receiving an exclusive outfit via a free update. A follow-up Tweet noted that additional cosmetics would be coming to the game through other free updates. No further details were given with regards to the skin's appearance or theme.

This update should add some much-needed personalization options to the game, as players can finally have some degree of control over what the character looks like. Sifu is quite a serious game, with funny attacks like the Mighty Calbot being the only instances of abject humor present, so it will be interesting to see how this translates to these new skins. Sloclap can choose to keep them in theme or do something out of left field.

There's also the obvious issue of the aging system; the main character's skin and hair will drastically change as they get older, so any outfits that change how the player physically looks might be out of the question, as it could require a good deal of work from Sloclap. Hopefully, Sifu fans will get the kinds of outfits they are hoping for.
