As soon as MTV reality series Siesta Key started airing in 2017, people drew comparisons to The Hills, a show on the same network that also featured pretty people dealing with personal drama. Now in its third season, Siesta Key has many hallmarks of a classic reality show: lots of romance, friends fighting, miscommunication, and a general sense that everything is falling apart at any given moment. It's definitely not boring.

Although the show focuses on its young cast, it doesn't delve too deeply into their backgrounds or any facts about them as the camera is more interested in as much drama as possible. Read on to find out 10 hidden details about the cast of Siesta Key that everyone completely missed.

Madisson Didn't Know Alex And Juliette Were A Couple

It seems like in every single episode of Siesta Key, Alex is fighting with the person that he's dating or there's some drama surrounding how faithful and committed he is. In the early days of the MTV series, Alex and Juliette were a couple, and he cheated on her with Maddison.

Any reality show would film this storyline in the most dramatic and tension-filled way possible, and that's exactly what happened here. It looked like Madisson shouldn't have done that and that she was ignoring "girl code" (something that Juliette sometimes brings up). As it turns out, Madisson didn't know that Alex and Juliette were a couple, and she felt terrible about what went down.

There Was A Lot Of Criticism Of Alex

Alex Kompothecras is basically the main character on Siesta Key, just like Teresa Giudice on The Real Housewives Of New Jersey or, back before she was a "friend of the housewives," Vicki Gunvalson on The Real Housewives Of Orange County. Fans might not know that there was a lot of criticism about him prior to season one even beginning to air on MTV.

Alex's pal took a boat out on the water with a hammerhead shark on the back of it. Since this was considered animal cruelty, people started sharing a viral video and commenting on Alex's social media with some really hateful language. MTV was supposed to throw a celebratory bash after the pilot aired but that didn't happen.

Alex's Girlfriend Is Now Expecting A Baby And Juliette Says There's More To The Story

There's no shortage of conflict between Alex and Juliette. While fans might have hoped that the negative words would die down between them after they broke up in the second season, now that the third season has begun, it seems like things are getting even more dramatic.

A hidden detail about Alex is that he and his new girlfriend are expecting a baby... and Juliette has been interviewed by various publications saying that there is more to the story. She said that when Alex and Alyssa's relationship hit the two-month mark, she and Alex were together, indicating that he wasn't faithful.

Madisson Says She And Ish Could Get Engaged

There's a lot of drama surrounding Madisson's new boyfriend, Ismael Soto who goes by "Ish." One of the major season three storylines so far is how Maddison's dad is super uncomfortable with her dating someone who is decades older than her.

In one scene, Madisson tells Chloe that she's in a relationship with Ish, a producer on the first season. In interviews, Madisson has shared that she and Ish could get engaged and that she seems them having a real future together. She wants her dad to start supporting their romance but it seems that she would marry Ish anyway, according to what she has said.

Madisson Taught Preschool Before The Show

Based on what viewers see of Madisson on Siesta Key, it seems like she graduated from college with an engineering degree and has been trying to get a job in that field. She has discussed how difficult it has been, especially in that part of Florida since there aren't as many positions as in other parts of the country.

Fans probably don't know that before the show, Madisson taught preschool. Some websites have written about this, and Madisson also shared a photo on her Instagram account in July 2013 where she wrote "I have the best job ever" and added the caption #preschoolteacher.

Chloe's Grandma Died During Filming

Chloe has shared in an interview that her grandma died while she was filming the show and that she didn't love that this wasn't really talked about on Siesta Key. She said that her grandma meant a lot to her and so it seems that this tragedy really shaped her.

While fans of the reality TV genre know that things are left out and scenes are edited, it's still surprising to hear that such a big moment in someone's life wouldn't be seen as significant.

Kelsey Is A Spokesperson For The National Multiple Sclerosis Society

Viewers often see Kelsey taking care of her mom, Debbie, who suffers from M.S. The scenes are very moving and emotional. Something that fans don't know about Kelsey is that she's a spokesperson for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

It's cool to learn this since the show tends to focus on Kelsey's love life and all of the conflict that results from it, and viewers can tell that she's a caring and compassionate person.

Juliette Said Her Relationship With Robby Was A "Rebound"

When fans tune into the third season, they'll see that Juliette has been dating Robby Hayes, who was on The Bachelorette. Now they have gone their separate ways and their romance was only for a few months.

What fans don't know is that Juliette has said that it was all a "rebound." That does make sense since she really loved Alex and they had such a dramatic split in season two.

Paul Once Left A Coupon For A Gym Instead Of A Real Tip

Fans of Siesta Key know that Paul has had some legal trouble and his grandma has been disappointed in him. What fans don't know is that back in the day, before the show, Paul once left a coupon for a gym instead of a real tip when dining at a restaurant.

This is from an old social media account that he got rid of as he now has an Instagram that helps promote the show.

1. Alex's Dad, Gary, Is The One Who Thought This Could Be A TV Series

As it turns out, Alex's dad, Gary, had the concept for this series. He figured that his son and his group of friends would make for compelling reality TV. While some people would think this and then move on, Gary got a pilot together with a production company and pitched it to networks.

As is a common story with very successful TV shows, it wasn't an instant yes. A year went by and then MTV told Gary they would love to make the show. It's interesting to learn this behind-the-scenes detail, especially since Gary is on camera quite a lot, giving Alex advice or asking about his (crazy and dramatic) love life.
