The Good Place is a show that aired from 2016 through 2020 when it ended after four seasons. The series follows a woman named Eleanor who passes away and finds herself in The Good Place, the part of the afterlife where people who were exceptionally good in their lives find themselves after death. Unfortunately for Eleanor, it becomes obvious fairly quickly that she does not belong there and was put there by mistake. The series follows as she attempts to turn her life around while not being caught by any of her perfect neighbors.

Unfortunately, since all good things must come to an end, The Good Place aired its final episode in January of 2020. The series is a comedic one with a relatively simple plot: it follows a Korean-Canadian family that lives in Toronto and own a convenience store.

The series follows the different members of the family as they run their store and as they adjust to the changes in their own family as well as the changes going on in the world around them. The series, like The Good Place, is equal parts funny, clever, and totally heartwarming.

Schitt's Creek (2015 -)

Schitt's Creek has been airing since 2015 and stars Eugene Levy as Johnny Rose, an incredibly wealthy video store chain owner who suddenly finds himself broke. This forces Johnny to move himself and his family to Schitt's Creek, a small town they once bought as a joke and had never actually expected themselves to spend any time in.

The series follows as the family tries to regroup and find their footing once again with their new lifestyle. Feeling totally out of place and out of their comfort zone may be miserable for Johnny Rose's family, but it's hilarious for the viewers to witness in each episode.

Good Girls (2018 -)

Good Girls has been airing since 2018 and stars Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman, and Retta as suburban moms living in Michigan. Motherhood isn't easy and the three of them are definitely struggling in more ways than one.

Together, the three of them come up with a scheme that they think will solve all their problems: pulling off a major money heist. Unfortunately, stealing from a grocery store isn't as easy as the three of them had anticipated and their plan goes south for a totally unexpected reason.

Superstore (2015 -)

Superstore is a sitcom that began airing in 2015 and stars America Ferrera as Amy, a long-time employee of a big box store called Cloud 9. The series begins with a new employee named Jonah starting at the store and follows the various employees and customer's daily lives in the store as well as the events going on in their personal lives.

Many of the episodes take place within the walls of Cloud 9, but the fact that the show has such a centralized setting doesn't stop it from being totally hilarious. The various different employees have vastly different personalities, lives, and even work styles which all add up to some hilarious episodes.

Black-Ish (2014 -)

Black-ish is a family-focused sitcom that began airing in 2014 and has spawned two spin-offs, Grown-ish and Mixed-ish. The series follows the Johnson family, an upper-class family living in Southern California. The family is made up of Andre and Rainbow, an ad executive and doctor, and their children: Zoey, Junior, Jack, Diane, and DeVante.

The series is focused on the lives of the Johnson family. From their work lives to their family relationships and the way that the outside world impacts their thoughts and actions, this show balances being hilarious with some really important cultural messages.

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist (2020 -)

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist is a comedy-drama that began airing in 2020 and has a super unique plot: a computer coder named Zoey's life is completely turned upside down when everyone around her starts expressing their innermost thoughts and desires through songs. To make things stranger, no one else can see or hear any of the songs other people around her are performing.

What originally seems to be an unusual curse soon begins to seem like more of a gift to Zoey as she finds herself able to connect with those around her in a way that she couldn't before.

Jane The Virgin (2014 - 2019)

Jane the Virgin aired from 2014 through 2019 and stars Gina Rodriguez as Jane, a 23-year-old who has everything in her life in order. The daughter of a teen mom, Jane saw the way that having a baby too young caused her mom to struggle in her life. She's vowed not to have kids until she was completely ready.

Unfortunately, the universe seems to have another plane for Jane and she finds herself accidentally artificially inseminated through a catastrophic mix-up. Jane's perfectly planned life takes an unusual and dramatic twist after she gets the news that she's pregnant.

Kidding (2018 -)

Kidding is a comedy-drama that began airing in 2018 on Showtime. The series stars Jim Carrey as Jeff Pickles, an iconic figure in the world of kids' TV.

Unfortunately, the friendly face that Jeff Pickles puts on for children around the country doesn't exactly reflect his real life. When his family life begins to fall apart, Jeff begins to struggle to keep going and keep happily putting on the show with his puppets for his adoring audience.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017 -)

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is an Amazon Prime original TV series that began airing on the streaming service in 2017. The show is set in the 1950s and follows Midge Maisel, a woman living in Manhattan who seems to have a perfect life.

When her life takes a massive change, she finally finds the time and drives to follow one of her secret desires: to become a stand-up comedian. This major change in her life and helps her to discover this brand new talent and she transforms into a whole new person.

Letterkenny (2016 -)

Letterkenny is a comedic series that began airing in 2016. The series began as a YouTube series before being picked up by Canadian TV channel The Comedy Network and eventually being distributed by Hulu to a wider audience.

The series follows the residents of a rural Canadian town called Letterkenny. The town may be small, but there's definitely a varied group of people living there and they all come together to form one hilarious show. Episodes of the series follow the different antics that the main characters get up to in their small town and their interactions with the other people living there.
