Shotgun Wedding, a new romantic action comedy film, promises laughs, thrills, and—as the title suggests—romance. The film is the second released feature by writer Mark Hammer, and was directed by Justin Moore of Pitch Perfect fame. Shotgun Wedding tells the story of an unsteady couple who must work together to save the attendees of their destination wedding after the wedding party is taken hostage.
Despite shake-ups behind the scenes and a long wait to reach audiences, Shotgun Wedding boasts an impressive, star-studded cast. Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel lead the film, while Lenny Kravitz and the always-wonderful Jennifer Coolidge also put their talents on display. Helping to elevate the actors' performances even further is the lively music for Shotgun Wedding, which was composed by the Emmy-nominated Turkish-American composer Pinar Toprak. "Golf Cart Escape" is a fun and exciting piece of music, full of dynamic changes that hint at how the corresponding scene will play out in the film. The Shotgun Wedding trailer even includes a hilarious clip of Tom Fowler (Josh Duhamel) and Darcy Rivera (played by Jennifer Lopez) escaping on a golf cart, making it easy to imagine the visuals that will accompany the piece. Toprak also made it a point to touch on the emotional elements of Shotgun Wedding even during this exciting sequence, as detailed in her words below.
Ultimately the story is about Tom and Darcy’s connection and it was very important for us to capture this with a simple yet touching theme. “Golf Cart Escape” starts out with our love theme and then develops to a thrilling and potentially dangerous ride with our leads and pirate kidnappers starting us off on our adventure.

With films like The Lost City, Captain Marvel, and Slumberland under her belt, Pinar Toprak is no stranger to underscoring the beats and arcs of comedy, action, and romance. Her work as a composer, orchestrator, and conductor has also taken her outside of the traditional realms of film and television, as she has also written new theme music for Thursday Night Football, composed for Disney theme parks, and even conducted Billie Eilish's performance of "No Time to Die" at the 2022 Oscars.
