The upcoming Cosmic Eclipse set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game is being celebrated with the release of two Shiny Legendary Pokémon that can be claimed in either Pokémon Sun & Moon or Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Cosmic Eclipse will be the last set based on the seventh generation of Pokémon games, which is why Shiny versions of Lunala and Solgaleo are being given away to fans, as they were the mascots of this generation.

Cosmic Eclipse will add more cards continuing to use the mechanics introduced in the past few sets, including GX moves and the popular Tag Team mechanic, which was briefly absent due to the release of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu and the associated Detective Pikachu set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The game will soon include a tag team trio in the Hidden Fates set and the Cosmic Eclipse set will also introduce powerful Tag Team Supporter cards, including Cynthia & Caitlin and Red & Blue.

The Pokémon fans who still play Pokémon Sun & Moon and Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon will be able to download Shiny versions of Solgaleo and Lunala as part of the celebration for the release of Cosmic EclipseThe Pokémon the player will receive is determined by which game they use the code on, with Pokémon Sun Pokémon Ultra Sun giving out Lunala and Pokémon Moon & Pokémon Ultra Moon giving out Solgaleo. In order to receive the code, the player needs to download and use the Pokémon Pass app in participating Gamestop stores. The promotion will be running from October 21 until November 10, with Cosmic Eclipse due to be released on November 1.

Solgaleo & Lunala-GX

Once the player has received the code, they need to claim it from the Mystery Gift menu. The two Legendary Pokémon can be picked up from a Pokémon Center and they will each be level 60, with Shiny Solgaleo knowing Morning Sun, Noble Road, Sunsteel Strike, and Zen Headbutt, while Shiny Lunala knows Moonblast, Moongeist Beam, Moonlight, and Psyshock. The Cosmic Eclipse set will also include a Tag Team card featuring both Solgaleo and Lunala, whose artwork also features Lillie from the seventh generation of Pokémon games. Lillie is on the card because Solgaleo & Leo's GX becomes stronger if used on the same turn as the Lillie's Full Force card, which protects the player's entire team throughout the duration of the opponent's next turn.

Cosmic Eclipse will be the last Pokémon TCG set based on the Alola region, as Pokémon Sword & Shield will be released in November and the mysterious new "V" mechanic seems to be linked to the Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing power from the Galar region. The seventh generation of Pokémon games is coming to a close and players can end it with a bang with the aid of their new Shiny Legendary Pokémon.
