Christmas Day this year brings us the highly-anticipated Sherlock Holmes, Guy Ritchie's new take on the classic detective character. We recently got a big look at the film with a huge high-res image gallery, and generally we have been getting steadily hit with trailers, posters and other images for the movie since Fall season began. As far as I'm concerned, everything's looked great so far.
8 clips from Sherlock Holmes have been released by Warner Bros., and thanks to the guys over at Collider, we have all of them back-to-back in the one player for extra convenience. I personally don't want to watch them all, as I don't want to see too much in fear it may lessen the impact and enjoyment of the movie itself (which is just less than a couple of weeks away from being released).
However, if you're keen, check out the Sherlock Holmes clips below (you decide how many you want to watch :) ):
That first clip of the fight scene reminded me very much of the ones from Ritchie's Brit gangster flick, Snatch, what with the super slo-mo and the close proximity of the fighters to the crowd around them. Looks great to me. I really love how Ritchie (an odd directing choice for this movie) has managed to put a new stamp on the classic character of Holmes, while still very much respecting the legacy (the inclusion of Holme's often ignored martial arts background I'm particularly looking forward to).
I have a feeling this movie is really going to connect with moviegoers and that it will do quite well at the box office (not breaking any records but still impressing with its numbers).
Sherlock Holmes stars Robert Downey Jr. as the titular character, and co-stars Jude Law as Dr. Watson, Rachel McAdams as love interest Irene Adler and Mark Strong as villain Lord Blackwood. It hits theaters on Christmas Day this year.
