Warning: Contains SPOILERS for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 8.She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has featured some exciting allusions to other superheroes, but unfortunately, the series ruined its first Wolverine easter egg by going too far. From mocking an Oscar Isaac meme, to discussing Captain America’s virginity, She-Hulk has not shied away from referencing both the MCU and real-world, making the comedic series more relatable. In addition to these fun anecdotes, some references have also served as links between She-Hulk, past Marvel projects – like episode 8’s Daredevil confirming the Sokovia Accords were repealed – and potential future occurrences.

Interestingly, one She-Hulk Wolverine tease (Hugh Jackman) even suggested he might exist in the MCU. In She-Hulk episode 2, Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) was seen browsing the internet. While doing so, a headline titled “Man fights with metal claws in bar brawl” was visible on the page. Though the article title didn’t explicitly state the man was Wolverine, the inclusion seems too obvious of an easter egg to be anyone else. This is especially true following other recent MCU mutant connections, like Ms. Marvel’s reveal that Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) herself is a mutant, Professor X (Patrick Stewart) appearing via the multiverse, and the confirmed addition of mutant Namor (Tenoch Huerta) in the upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Related: Marvel Explains Why The MCU Needs Mutants (Not Just For The X-Men)She-Hulk episode 8 doubled back on itself in questionable form, including another nod towards Wolverine. While helping Jen get ready for a gala, Nikki Ramos (Ginger Gonzaga) jumped out from behind a wall, with makeup brushes between her fingers, mimicking Wolverine’s adamantium claws. She also says “snikt,” a term that became borderline famous as the noise Wolverine's claws make when they extend from his hands. While this is seemingly innocent, it overshadows the clever subtlety of the first Wolverine easter egg from episode 2. It also raises questions as to how established Wolverine is in She-Hulk’s world. It’s not been suggested he exists in the MCU as of yet - and indeed, even if he theoretically did, Wolverine's MCU identity would appear to be unknown, as there has been no direct reference to him or his name - yet Nikki somehow knows the unique sound his claws make. While this could be coincidence and Nikki simply imitating the mystery man from the article, this She-Hulk gag ruined its first Wolverine easter egg by being far less subtle, and raising questions about why the characters were referencing a figure who shouldn't even exist yet.

Is She-Hulk Setting Up A Wolverine Appearance?

Deadpool 3 Wolverine Road Trip Plot

Though these She-Hulk easter eggs have helped to delicately allude to the possibility of a mutant presence in the MCU’s Phase 4, it does not seem to be setting up Wolverine’s appearance in the series, and instead just serves as one of many little details the show has added for world-building. With only one episode left and Jen’s savage She-Hulk moment and war against MCU villain team Intelligencia still to be resolved, it is highly unlikely the series would introduce such a major player this late in the game – especially after the series’ penultimate episode already reintroduced Daredevil to the MCU. Moreover, with Jackman confirmed to return as Wolverine alongside close friend Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3, Marvel will surely be saving his first on-screen appearance since Logan until its actual release.

Wolverine and Hulk have crossed paths in the comics both as allies and enemies, so it is possible that Jen could meet the hero later on, especially if she interacts more with her cousin Hulk, or Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), in future films. With cameos of mutants in other recent Marvel projects, it’s obvious that they will surely begin to play a critical role in the MCU and offer more possibilities for crossovers with The Avengers. Various easter eggs hint the X-Men will also eventually be integrated in the MCU’s Earth-616 timeline, but it probably won’t be by Wolverine returning in the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law finale.
