Warning! This article contains major spoilers for She-Hulk's finale.She-Hulk: Attorney at Law destroyed MCU conventions in a fourth-wall-busting finale that still manages to retain the traditional Marvel Studios post-credits scene. The She-Hulk finale tackles the fallout from Jennifer Walters' (Tatiana Maslany) justified rage at her privacy being breached by a group of male internet trolls calling themselves Intelligencia. It builds to the standard MCU climax, where all the loose threads of the series, Intelligencia, Titania, Hulk, and She-Hulk's stolen blood, combine at Emil Blonsky's retreat. However, as this isn't the She-Hulk ending that Jen pictured, she literally She-Hulk smashes the fourth wall to raise her complaints with K.E.V.I.N, the AI in charge of Marvel Studios' output.

A discussion between Jen and K.E.V.I.N follows, which exposes many of the flaws in the MCU's formulaic approach to storytelling. Eventually, Jen gets the ending that she wants, but that MCU formula hasn't been completely dispensed with. Having previously revealed that Blonsky is breaching his bail terms by appearing as Abomination at paid speaking engagements, he is sent back to prison by the episode's end. The traditional post-credits scene swiftly follows in which Wong once again frees Emil Blonsky from prison, offering him sanctuary at Kamar-Taj, which Emil graciously accepts. This pays off Wong's original promise to Blonsky for helping him in his quest to become Sorcerer Supreme, an offer that Emil originally rejected because he wanted to show contrition for his actions as Abomination.

Abomination Being In Kamar-Taj Can Explain His Thunderbolts Absence

Given Emil's redemption in She-Hulk, it was presumed that the Abomination's services may have been required by Valentina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). She's previously appeared in both Black Widow and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, recruiting a more morally complex super-team ahead of 2024's Thunderbolts movie. As Emil Blonsky was recruited by General Thaddeus E. "Thunderbolt" Ross to take on the Hulk in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, the Abomination seemed like a certainty for the MCU's Thunderbolts team.

However, when the Thunderbolts line-up was revealed at D23 Expo 2022, the Abomination was notable for his absence. It's unsurprising that Blonsky hasn't been recruited by Valentina. After Jen Walters negotiated his release, Emil left his life of military service and superhuman powers behind him to achieve inner peace and help other superhumans find theirs, including Man-Bull and Porcupine in She-Hulk. Although he's still transforming into the Abomination in the She-Hulk finale, he states that it's purely to make money from public appearances, money that he will presumably filter back into his retreat.

When he was sent back to prison for breaching his bail conditions, She-Hulk viewers may have expected the post-credits to find Emil offered a deal by Valentina. Instead, they saw Wong return to Blonsky's cell to once again offer him sanctuary at Kamar-Taj. This is a much happier ending for Emil than being press-ganged into service for the Thunderbolts. At Kamar-Taj he can continue working on himself and his efforts to attain inner peace. With the protection of the Masters of the Mystic Arts, Emil should be able to avoid detection by Val and the Thunderbolts.

Will Abomination Return In The MCU?

Tim-Roth-on-his-MCU-future-as-Abomination

Tim Roth's IMDb page has no further Marvel Studios projects listed beyond She-Hulk, so it's unclear whether the Abomination will return to the MCU. Although he's now living at Kamar-Taj, the Abomination doesn't feel like an ideal fit for the as-yet-unannounced Doctor Strange 3. Thunderbolts was one of the more logical places for Blonsky to reappear and while Marvel may have held back on announcing his involvement until after She-Hulk's finale to avoid spoiling the Disney+ show, its post-credits scene does suggest that Blonsky will be hiding out at Kamar-Taj for some, if not all, of his new prison sentence.

Another potential Marvel movie for the Abomination to appear in is Captain America: New World Order which will feature the return of Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns from The Incredible Hulk. It was Sterns who was forced into creating the Abomination when Blonsky demanded to be injected with Banner's blood. In the comics, Samuel Sterns became the villainous Leader, and it's confirmed that the returning Incredibe Hulk character will be the villain of Captain America 4. At the end of The Incredible Hulk, Sterns undergoes a mutation that eventually turns him into the Leader.

As it was Blonsky's transformation into the Abomination that caused Sterns' to be exposed to Bruce Banner's blood, New World Order feels like a much more likely movie for another appearance from a repentant Emil Blonsky. Despite Jen Walters' passionate plea for K.E.V.I.N and the MCU to attempt new stories and break free from their formula, Marvel Studios are still clearly following that formula to some extent. Despite being a fun callback to Wong's original offer in episode 3, She-Hulk's post-credits scene between Wong and Blonsky also opens all sorts of possibilities for Abomination's future in the MCU.

All episodes of She-Hulk are now streaming on Disney+.
