Will Netflix ever sign off on She-Ra & the Princesses of Power season 6, and if so what could happen and when will it release? Noelle Stevenson's She-Ra & the Princesses of Power has been a phenomenal success, updating 1985's classic Filmation series for the present day. It's one of the more remarkable animated shows, with She-Ra notable for its queer representation and its steady, well-handled character arcs.

She-Ra & the Princesses of Power season 5 had the highest stakes yet. The magical world of Etheria had long been concealed from the covetous eyes of Horde Prime, the ruthless being who otherwise ruled the universe. But that magic had now failed, and Etheria was revealed to the cosmos. Horde Prime immediately claimed Etheria for his own, and soon the Princesses of Power were fighting against a greater evil than they had ever imagined. Worse still, Adora had broken her sword, meaning she had apparently lost the ability to transform into She-Ra.

Of course, this is a children's animation - albeit one with some pleasingly mature themes - and so love triumphed in the end. The heroes of Etheria stand united, Horde Prime has been defeated; but will there be another season of this popular and critically acclaimed show?

Showrunner Noelle Stevenson Intends She-Ra Season 5 To Be The End Of The Story

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

Showrunner Noelle Stevenson intends She-Ra & the Princesses of Power to be the end of the story. She has finished the show on a high note, neatly wrapping up all the character arcs, and leaving viewers the opportunity to imagine future stories. "The story was always defined by the characters' arcs," Stevenson told Digital Spy in an extensive interview, "and it's reached its conclusion in the way that we found the most fulfilling." Essentially, like the very best of fairy tales, Stevenson feels her story can be summed up in seven words; "And they all lived happily ever after."

She-Ra & The Princesses Of Power Season 5 Concludes In A Deliberately Open-Ended Way

She-Ra Best Friends Squad

She-Ra & the Princesses of Power may conclude with the heroes triumphant, but the Best Friend Squad embrace one last mission, potentially their greatest yet; to give the gift of magic back to the universe. It's an open-ended conclusion, meaning the stories feel as though they've only just begun. According to Stevenson, that was her deliberate goal - and the Best Friend Squad's mission mirrors her own. "I want people to be able to imagine what comes next," she observes, "and to have this world feel very big, and that there's so much more that can still happen, while still feeling like an ending, and feeling like everything ended the way it was supposed to. I really hope people just continue to elaborate on, and embellish that, in their own works or in their own stories." Essentially, having told the story of Etheria's salvation, she wants to give the gift of She-Ra back to the fans who have made this show a success; she wants to return the magic of the Princesses of Power to the people who have tuned in over the last few years.

Is She-Ra & The Princesses Of Power Season 6 Likely To Be Made?

Glimmer, She-Ra and Bow in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power season 4

All this means Noelle Stevenson is unlikely to make She-Ra & the Princesses of Power season 6, and the show's stars - who seem devoted to her - aren't going to be returning without their showrunner. Still, for all that's the case, Stevenson seems to be reluctant to rule it out completely; she's loved making She-Ra & the Princesses of Power, and may well prove unable to resist the temptation in the end; certainly Stevenson has expressed interest in crossing over with Kevin Smith's Master of the Universe series. Only time will tell.
