Bad news for anyone hoping Stephanie Beatriz would star in Marvel's She-Hulk: The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star has already revealed she won't be cast in the series. She-Hulk was announced last year as one of the many MCU-set shows to premiere on Disney's streaming service Disney+. These shows, unlike previous Marvel television series, are going to feature stronger ties to the movies, with some of the characters set to appear in upcoming films. The first of these shows, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will arrive in August this year.

Details regarding She-Hulk have been scarce, but as its production date slowly nears, more has been revealed. She-Hulk is expected to shoot this summer, suggesting a release date set sometime in 2021. Jessica Gao (Rick and Morty) has signed on as head writer. Since no one has been cast in the lead role, fans have come up with their own ideas while they await the official announcement. Beatriz has long been a popular choice for the role of She-Hulk/Jennifer Walters, and she has even shared her own desire to take on the role. However, despite that interest, Beatriz is no longer in the running.

While sharing some fan art of herself in the role, Beatriz confessed she won't be able to play She-Hulk due to her commitment to Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Beatriz plays Rosa Diaz on the beloved comedy, and while its seventh season just started up a few weeks ago, it has already been renewed for season 8, which would be in production around the same time as She-Hulk. Check out Beatriz's full message below:

Most recently, a casting description for the lead role suggested Marvel is looking for an actress with comedic chops between the ages of 26 and 34. The description also specifically mentioned Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), who is Jennifer's cousin in the comics and the cause of her transformation into She-Hulk due to a blood transfusion she receives from him. It's unclear if Ruffalo will make an appearance on the show, but the inclusion of Bruce's name seems promising. This also suggests the show will follow She-Hulk's original comic book origin story.

It's disappointing that Beatriz won't get to take on the role considering how enthusiastic she was about the ideaWith a summer start date for production, the lead role will likely have to be cast sooner rather than later. There still might be a while before an official announcement is made, but hopefully fans won't have to wait too long to find out who their She-Hulk will be.
