Bruce Banner passes the torch onto Tatiana Maslany's Jennifer Walters in the new She-Hulk series, reveals Mark Ruffalo. While Oscar Issac's Moon Knight is currently the next series on the Disney+ docket, premiering on March 30, She-Hulk is another equally anticipated show that is expected to arrive sometime this year. Maslany, known primarily for her Emmy-winning portrayal of numerous characters in Orphan Black, leads the She-Hulk cast which also includes Ruffalo, Tim Roth, Ginger Gonzaga, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Jameela Jamil.

Following 2008's Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton in the titular role, Ruffalo was recast as the character for subsequent Avengers movies. Though rights issues prevented Ruffalo's Hulk from ever getting his own solo outing, the upcoming Disney+ series will focus on his cousin Jennifer, a lawyer who develops similar Hulk-like abilities after receiving an emergency blood transfusion from Bruce. While Ruffalo's involvement in She-Hulk has been apparent for quite some time, the exact extent of his role has been unclear. Now, the actor is opening up about what fans should expect from the series.

Appearing on the red carpet premiere of Netflix's The Adam Project, Ruffalo spoke briefly to Access Hollywood about She-Hulk and divulged a few interesting details in the process. For starters, Ruffalo revealed that Bruce will pass his banner onto She-Hulk in the series. The actor also teased "long, long scenes" involving their two characters. Read what Ruffalo had to say below:

Tatiana Maslany is freaking legendary as the She-Hulk. I'm passing the banner onto her. Yeah, there's some really good, funny, cool, long, long scenes between the Professor and her. We've never really seen the Hulk interact with people the way he does in that show. It will be really interesting.

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has already seen multiple Avengers pass their mantles onto younger successors. The latest example was Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) passing his mantle onto Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) in Hawkeye. Based on Ruffalo's comments, it sounds like She-Hulk will explore a very similar dynamic between Bruce and Jennifer. Therefore, it makes sense that the two characters will be sharing a ton of screen time together. This will also give Ruffalo's Hulk his first chance at a pseudo-solo outing, which he's been deprived of thus far.

Thanks to Ruffalo's reveal, this passing of the torch is expected to be a dominant storyline throughout She-Hulk, though it's still unclear what side of Ruffalo's character to expect more of. When he was last seen during the post-credits scene for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Bruce was in normal human form, though the first She-Hulk footage also showed him in his Smart Hulk form from Avengers: Endgame. Since Ruffalo specifically chose to refer to his character as "Professor" during the interview, it sure sounds like Professor Hulk and She-Hulk will be getting plenty of screen time together.
