Could She-Hulk Season 2 Happen? MCU Show Creator Has Blunt Response

With audiences still reeling from the show's wall-breaking final twists, creator Jessica Gao is sharing her thoughts on a potential She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 2. The latest series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe told the origin story of Bruce Banner's attorney cousin Jennifer Walters as she gets the same Hulk powers after his blood becomes cross-contaminated with hers. Jennifer navigates her life as an attorney for super-powered beings, including Tim Roth's Abomination, while also determining her own place in the world as a hero and trolls with a sinister plan for her.

Tatiana Maslany led the cast of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law in the titular role, alongside Ginger Gonzaga, Jameela Jamil, Josh Segarra, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth, Benedict Wong, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jon Bass, and Charlie Cox. While its visual effects and some of its storylines proved divisive for audiences, the MCU show ultimately scored rave reviews from critics for its formula-breaking writing, including the fully meta finale, in which Jennifer meets the Kevin Feige-inspired artificial intelligence K.E.V.I.N. and completely rewrites the "initial" finale plans. Unlike most other MCU projects, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law didn't end with any major cliffhangers for its titular hero, leaving many to wonder if the show will get a season 2 renewal.

On the heels of the series' finale, ComicBook.com caught up with Jessica Gao to discuss She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's season 2 chances. The MCU show's creator didn't offer confirmation on whether discussions were happening for the show's future, instead expressing a need to take a breather before continuing and comparing making the series to childbirth. I feel like this must be what it feels like for people who have had kids. This is how my favorite kids describe when they have their first baby and then everybody's like, are you going to have another kid? And they're like, I literally just gave birth. I'm in labor in delivery. I just gave birth. I'm still on a hospital bed. Give me a second. And that's how I feel right now.

With no viewership numbers to gauge the show's success on, it's unclear what She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's season 2 chances are, especially given the toxic backlash to the MCU series. However, even if Marvel Studios elected to move forward with another chapter of the show before Gao was ready, it doesn't mean it wouldn't be able to continue without the series' original creator. Loki season 2 is currently in production with Eric Martin, who was a writer under creator Michael Waldron, now leading the writer's room as the former head writer went on to focus on writing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Kevin Feige's Star Wars and now Avengers: Secret Wars.

Should Loki season 2 prove to match audiences' expectations after its acclaimed debut, it could serve as proof that a She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 2 could move forward without Gao if she wasn't ready to get back into the MCU fold. However, with writers like Michael Waldron and Jeff Loveness, who penned Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and recently signed on for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, getting multiple projects at the studio, it seems likely Marvel would want to try and bring Gao back if interested in giving the show a season 2 renewal. While audiences await details on its future, they can revisit She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 1 now streaming in its entirety on Disney+.
