Warning: This post contains SPOILERS for She-Hulk episode 3!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe did not learn anything from Captain America saving the Avengers in Captain America: Civil War, as She-Hulk: Attorney At Law episode 3 proves prison escapes are still super easy. Once the dust settled on Captain America and Iron Man's Phase 3 fight, Steve Rogers took it upon himself to free those who went against the Sokovia Accords and aligned themselves with him. Captain America: Civil War's ending proved he easily could walk into The Raft prison and break Sam Wilson, Wanda Maximoff, Clint Barton, and Scott Lang out. It now seems that Captain America's actions were not a learning lesson for other prisons hoping to contain super-powered people.

She-Hulk is exploring more of Damage Control's newly revealed Supermax prison. It was first featured in Ms. Marvel, and its poor security was almost immediately showcased. Kamran and the rest of the Clandestines escaped Damage Control's prison with relative ease. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings teased another prison escape by having Abomination fight Wong. The moment created a lot of questions about Abomination's whereabouts, and She-Hulk made it abundantly clear that he was another one of Damage Control's prisoners.

Thanks to Abomination's parole hearing and the circumstances of his escape, She-Hulk proves that the MCU did not learn anything from Captain America saving the Avengers. The show has reinforced that Damage Control's Supermax prison's security is a complete joke, especially thanks to magic users. However, the real blunder is found with the indication that Damage Control did not even know Abomination escaped from his cell to fight Wong in the first place. It emphasizes that high-profile super-powered prisoners are not being constantly monitored or heavily guarded, which should be common. Instead, Damage Control is not learning from The Raft's failures.

Abomination’s Prison Escape Creates A Massive MCU Problem

She-Hulk Abomination Fight Club

The biggest problem that comes from Abomination's prison escape is directly related to Damage Control's credibility and power. Phase 4 has done a lot of work to build up the organization and show how it is turning superheroes into its enemies. Abomination's prison escape in She-Hulk means that audiences will continue to have a difficult time believing Damage Control can actually keep villains safely locked away. Abomination could be the latest of many super-powered villains to escape from the Supermax prison, and Damage Control's track record indicates that he will not be the last either.

It is possible that She-Hulk: Attorney At Law is proving Damage Control's incompetence in keeping villains locked away as a means of building to the Thunderbolts. If Damage Control realizes what MCU observers already know, the decision could be made to move away from the protocols of sending Marvel villains to prison. The organization could shift its strategy and convince the villains that their best option is joining the MCU's Thunderbolts team, where they could have power inhibitors and only be allowed to use them as Damage Control says. Meanwhile, the Supermax prison could become a massive headquarters for the team.
