The Marvel Cinematic Universe will finally address one of its biggest unresolved plot threads, as She-Hulk will reveal what happened to the Sokovia Accords. Phase 4 of the MCU is balancing introducing new elements to build up the Multiverse Saga and tying up remaining questions from the Infinity Saga. She-Hulk is a perfect example of this, as the Disney+ show stars a new character, Jennifer Walkers (Tatiana Maslany), but incorporates some long-forgotten elements, like Abomination (Tim Roth). For as much as the show focuses on She-Hulk's origin and legal career, it will also connect to several past MCU storylines.

One lingering question that has hung over Phase 4 pertains to the status of the Sokovia Accords. Originally signed in Captain America: Civil War, they were designed to give the world governments control over where and when superheroes could step in. While Phase 3 made a character's decision to sign or not sign the Sokovia Accords a huge plot line at first, the MCU quickly forgot about the accords' impact. This has created plenty of confusion in Phase 4 about whether Team Iron Man or Team Captain America really won the Civil War, as the MCU has not made it clear if they are still in effect.

It has now been confirmed that She-Hulk will address the status of the Sokovia Accords. Director Jessica Gao recently spoke to The Direct about the upcoming MCU Disney+ show, and this dangling plot thread was brought into question. Gao confirmed that later episodes of She-Hulk will reveal what happened to the Sokovia Accords and inform audiences how or if they still factor into the MCU in Phase 4.

Yeah. Well, this show will answer the question of whatever happened to the Sokovia Accords. It’ll happen later in the season, but you will get an answer to what actually happened to the Accords.

Wanda holing the Sokovia Accords in Civil War

There are already some signs of how She-Hulk could tackle the Sokovia Accords. Ms. Marvel confirmed that one of the show's locations will be the Department of Damage Control's Supermax prison. After holding Kamran and other Clandestines in Ms. Marvel, Damage Control is expected to house Abomination and possibly other She-Hulk villains. The organization appears to be responsible for enforcing the Sokovia Accords in the United States, so Jennifer Walters' legal career could include taking on cases that challenge the status of these documents.

Knowing that She-Hulk will answer what happened to the Sokovia Accords should be welcomed news for many MCU viewers. The show could be where Marvel finally explains just how powerful the documents are and what type of restrictions MCU heroes have to operate under. It could even be a chance to reveal if any other characters signed the documents at a later point. In any case, She-Hulk tying up one of the MCU's biggest dangling plot threads could help make it one of the more important Phase 4 projects.
