Though many are eager for the hero's debut, creator Jessica Gao has a disappointing answer for the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Ghost Rider Marvel Cinematic Universe cameo theories. The upcoming Disney+ series will mark the MCU debut of Tatiana Maslany's Jennifer Walters, cousin to Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, as she gains the same powers as the Hulk and grapples to balance her new life as a hero along with her life as an attorney specializing in cases with superhumans. Alongside Maslany, the cast for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law includes Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, Jameela Jamil, Benedict Wong, Charlie Cox, Ruffalo and Tim Roth.

Ghost Rider has made his way to the screen a few ways in the past, most notably beginning with the Nicolas Cage-led movies in the late 2000s and early 2010s, in which he starred as the Johnny Blaze incarnation of the character. The motorcycle-based hero would eventually make his way to the MCU with Gabriel Luna portraying Robbie Reyes in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4. Though initially intended to lead his own spinoff series at Hulu, Marvel Television being folded into Marvel Studios scrapped these solo Ghost Rider plans and now audiences are eagerly looking for his potential return in the MCU.

While speaking with Deadline at the red carpet event for the series, Jessica Gao addressed the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Ghost Rider MCU cameo theories. The show creator confirmed that the hero will not be appearing in the series, but says the character many thought to be Ghost Rider will be of some importance in an episode. See what Gao said below:

"He's not Ghost Rider — his name is Donny Blaze. He is a magician named Donny Blaze. This is just a magician who picked a stage name that he thought was going to get a lot of attention. He's a big character in his episode but he is not Ghost Rider."

Theories about a Ghost Rider cameo in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law stemmed from a brief shot in a trailer for the MCU series that saw the titular heroine in a theater-like building alongside Wong and an out-of-focus poster promoting a performer with the last name "Blaze" and their first name illegible, save for "-onny." Given how close the name was to that of original comic book Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, it's understandable some took to believing the character could be making his way to the series, even if it would be after he passed the Spirit of Vengeance on to Reyes in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. While Gao's confirmation that it's not Ghost Rider in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law may come as a disappointment to some, her tease that the magician character will play a major role in his episode should prove an interesting tease, especially given Wong's involvement in his arc.

Though She-Hulk: Attorney at Law may not feature a Ghost Rider MCU cameo, the door isn't entirely closed for the character to make his way back to the screen in the future. With the introductions of Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night and Blade alongside Doctor Strange, the MCU looks to be setting up its own version of the Midnight Sons, and Ryan Gosling has expressed his own interest in bringing the Ghost Rider to the franchise. While audiences await word on the hero's return, they can look forward to She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premiering on Disney+ on Thursday.
