Spoilers for the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law finale below!Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige only had one complaint about the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law finale twist. The final Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 television series stars Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, a lawyer tasked with defending superhumans in the court of law, including Bruce Banner/Hulk's (Mark Ruffalo) old foe Emil Blonsky/Abomination (Tim Roth) and Sorcerer Supreme Wong (Benedict Wong). However, the show saved one of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's biggest surprise appearances for last.

Episode 9 finds Walters locked in prison with following Intelligencia's ambush and her subsequent Hulk-out rage. To be released, she forgoes her powers through the use of an inhibitor and seeks out Blonsky's assistance. However, Walters finds that Blonsky is hired to speak at an Intelligencia event, sparking a calamitous fight which sees Todd Phelps (Jon Bass) inject himself with Walters' blood to become a Hulk; Abomination take on Banner who had arrived just in time for the brawl; and Titania join the fight for some unknown reason. In typical Walters fashion, she breaks the fourth wall and stops the show, traveling to Marvel Studios to see the one person who controls all MCU stories - Kevin Feige. However, it is revealed that Kevin is actually, K.E.V.I.N. (Knowledge Enhanced Visual Interconnectivity Nexus), an artificial intelligence machine that uses an algorithm to create Marvel content.

In a recent interview with Marvel.com, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law showrunner Jessica Gao reveals how Feige had only one complaint about the series finale's surprise twist. Although he had no qualms about being turned into an A.I., he had an issue with the robot wearing the Marvel Studios President's trademark "black baseball hat." Gao explains that Feige objected to that addition to the character, saying that it did not make any sense. Read what the series showrunner says below:

I wrote in the script that when she sees this big AI machine, it's wearing a little black baseball hat, a classic Kevin Feige-style black baseball hat. When the [visual development team] was showing us different possible sketches of K.E.V.I.N., they were all wearing little hats. No matter what type of robot or machine it was, it was wearing a little black baseball hat on top. [Human] Kevin said, ‘Well, that doesn't make a lick of sense, why would a robot wear a hat?’ I said, ‘That's the part that doesn't make sense to you, Kevin, that is the line of logic that you won't cross, we have you represented as an AI brain that is controlling all of the Marvel Cinematic Universes, but the thing that you can't get past is that it might have a hat on top of the machine?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’"

K.E.V.I.N. confronting She-Hulk

Although Feige rejected the idea of the robot wearing an actual baseball hat, he and Gao compromised by incorporating the accessory into the machine's design. Regardless, the effect is clear, as is the biting commentary, with the show criticizing the formulaic endings of MCU shows and movies. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's latest fourth-wall break challenges Marvel's narrative structure and delivers a unique ending unlike anything audiences have seen before within the shared superhero universe.

Currently, there has been no announcement about a potential She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 2, and Marvel Studios' slate of upcoming projects doesn't include another batch of episodes. However, the series finale had multiple hints to the possibility of season 2 being a reality. When Walters enters the writers room to discuss the failures of the show's ending, the staff are in the process defining season 2's story, which they pitch as an "extended dream sequence." Later, Walters talks to K.E.V.I.N. about her thoughts on season 2, but the robot quickly changes the subject before confirming anything. Unfortunately, audiences will have to wait for future announcements from Marvel to confirm if She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 2 will be made official.
