Warning: This article contains spoilers for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 4.She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 4 features a delightful number of Marvel Easter eggs - including one major misdirect. Every Marvel Studios TV show is packed with Easter eggs and references, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is no exception. In this case, a surprising number of Easter eggs have been helpful in establishing the correct MCU Phase 4 timeline, with several key events spinning out of the post-credits scene for Shang-Chi & the Legend of the Ten Rings and a subtle reference to Eternals that fixes that film's third act in the timeline.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is finally beginning to find its own identity, meaning episode 4 actually has fewer Easter eggs. That's not to say it doesn't feature cameos, though; in this case, She-Hulk is hired by Wong, who feels as though he's essentially become part of the show's supporting cast. This time, Wong is actually a client, hiring Jennifer Walters to help him deal with an unusual case of a wizard who was thrown out of Kamar-Taj but continues to use magical secrets for his own profit.

Wong is the Sorcerer Supreme, but in this case he's dealing with matters of law. That means he's moved on to She-Hulk's turf, and it's amusing to see him struggling to navigate courts (referring to a judge as "Your Majesty" at one point. The magical misadventures mean the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 4 Easter eggs are especially interesting, including a tongue-in-cheek Mephisto nod that feels particularly ironic given many Phase 4 theories about Marvel's version of the Devil.

She-Hulk Episode 4 Introduces Donny Blaze (Not Ghost Rider)

There's something of a misdirect in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Easter egg. Trailers had appeared to hint at the name "Jonny Blaze," the human identity of Ghost Rider, but in reality episode 4 introduces viewers to an original character named Donny Blaze, unrelated to Ghost Rider. Rather, Donny Blaze is a magic performer who learned real sorcery after attending Kamar-Taj for a week before he was thrown out. He clearly does possess the potential for real magic, but he lacks the good character to use what he knows wisely.

Donny Blaze Left Kamar-Taj With A Sling Ring

She-Hulk Donny Blaze and Sling Ring

Donny Blaze left Kamar-Taj with a single relic; a Sling Ring. These were introduced in Doctor Strange, and they allow the Masters of the Mystic Arts to open portals. Recent MCU movies have tended to treat these as those they can be used simply to travel from A to B, but She-Hulk episode 4 remembers that Mordo claimed they can open portals to other dimensions as well. It's important to understand that Marvel use certain terms interchangeably, meaning the MCU multiverse gets confusing; in this case, the reference to "other dimensions" doesn't mean Sling Rings can open portals to alternative timelines, but rather to other planes of existence. This sets up a particularly sinister nod.

She-Hulk Episode 4 May Have A Nod To Mephisto

Mephisto laughs in Marvel Comics.

Unfortunately, Donny Blaze isn't especially proficient when it comes to use of the Sling Ring. He unwittingly sends a woman named Madisynn to what sounds like one of Marvel's Hell Dimensions, where she claims to have encountered a talking goat who saved her from a lava pit in exchange for six drops of blood. Later, Madisynn says she thinks his name was Jake - she may well be misremembering, because Mephisto does have an alias of "Jack." This subtle Mephisto nod seems more than a little tongue-in-cheek, because viewers became eager to believe Mephisto was the secret villain of Phase 4 after some interpretations of WandaVision.

Wong References The Book Of Vishanti In She-Hulk Episode 4

Doctor strange multiverse of madness Infinity Stone Mystery book of vishanti

She-Hulk tells Wong they'll have to do things by the book, prompting Wong to name-drop the Book of Vishanti. The Book of Vishanti is a source of light magic in the MCU, and it appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It was apparently destroyed, but that may have been misdirection given such powerful artifacts may not be so easily destroyed.

She-Hulk Episode 4 Includes Some Brilliant Marvel Comics Easter Eggs

She-Hulk To-Do List

She-Hulk episode 4 reveals Jennifer Walters' to-do list, and it includes a number of major comic book references and easter eggs.

  • A file discovery request for Kraft v Soule is a nod to David Anthony Kraft and Charles Soule, both of whom have written She-Hulk comics (Soule is actually a former lawyer)
  • Follow-up action on Jansen class-action is a reference to comic book inker Klaus Jansen
  • There's a compile disposition for Lee v Byrne. Stan Lee cameos may have sadly come to an end after the great man's passing, but he's still being referenced - entirely appropriate, given Lee was the creator of She-Hulk. Byrne is a nod to John Byrne, a major She-Hulk writer and artist.

Wong Name-Drops The Mirror Dimension (Again) In She-Hulk Episode 4

Doctor Strange mirror dimension

Wong suggests sending Donny Blaze to the Mirror Dimension. This plane of existence was introduced in Doctor Strange, and it is controlled by a sorcerer's force of will. It's the second time Wong has suggested using the Mirror Dimension as a prison, suggesting Doctor Strange took Spider-Man there in Spider-Man: No Way Home because it's a common way sorcerers try to control conflict. Peter Parker's intelligence allowed him to use the Mirror Dimension against Strange, but there's no evidence Donny Blaze is smart enough to do the same.

Wong Refers To A Wedding - Perhaps A Nod To Doctor Strange 2

Finally, a She-Hulk episode 4 post-credits scene sees Wong hanging out with Madisynn as they watch This Is Us. It's possible he's keeping an eye on Madisynn, concerned that she's signed a deal with a being from a Hell Dimension and thus needs supervision; alternatively, Wong could simply be enjoying spending time with her. He tells Madisynn about vodka and yak milk, and mentions they may have some left over from "the wedding." This may be a nod to the wedding of Christine Palmer in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with She-Hulk: Attorney at Law continuing to solidify the Phase 4 timeline.
