While the recent She-Hulk TV show created a romantic link between Jen Walters and Matt Murdock - aka the vigilante Daredevil - it's unlikely MCU fans will ever see their relationship take the same dark twist as in the comics. There, the Devil of Hell's Kitchen and the Jade Giatness likewise found joy in each other's arms, but they were torn apart by another character fans know from the MCU.

Despite both being lawyers, Daredevil and She-Hulk don't spend much time together in the comics, and have gone up against each other very rarely. This is largely because both of them have spent most of their careers defending the innocent, though Matt and Jen did go head-to-head in a case involving Captain America, where a regretful Matt took on Steve Rogers out of his belief that no-one should be above the law (in that case, Captain America made it clear he'd chosen She-Hulk as his defense because he considers her the better lawyer.)

However, the two did get close during the events of House of M. In the famous comic event, Scarlet Witch attempted to recreate the world with her reality-warping powers, giving each of her heroic allies their heart's desire and elevating mutants to the planet's dominant race under the benevolent rule of her father Magneto. House of M #5 (from Brian Michael Bendis and Olivier Coipel) shows Matt Murdock and Jennifer Walters in a flirtatious working relationship shortly before they're psychically awakened to the true nature of reality, regaining their past memories. However, The Pulse: House of M Special goes deeper into their relationship. From a host of writers and artist Mike Mayhew, this special edition comic was printed as a newspaper from within the world of the House of M reality, used to get readers up to speed with the new status quo. Among its articles is a gossip column in which it's confirmed that Daredevil and She-Hulk are dating, and have even been caught together in the back halls of court.

Daredevil & She-Hulk's Relationship Has a Tragic Ending

Of course, the tragic twist is that Scarlet Witch's House of M didn't last. In House of M #8, the heroes take the fight to Wanda, and she restores realty (while all but wiping out the mutant gene.) The assembled heroes lose the lives they'd built for themselves, and some are haunted by the memories of what they've lost - especially Spider-Man, who once again loses his first love Gwen Stacy as well as their child. She-Hulk seemingly remembers the final battle of House of M, but Daredevil shows no such signs, taking them from a happy couple to mere vigilante colleagues in the blink of an eye, and wiping the entire relationship from Matt's memory.

She-Hulk & Daredevil Might Be Soulmates

What's particularly tragic about this is that Scarlet Witch dug into her former friends' minds to give them what they wanted, fulfilling some dreams they only realized they had in retrospect (for example, Captain Marvel realizes she secretly wants to become the world's favorite superhero.) While not all these lives turn out perfect - Spider-Man's conflicting desires turn him into a new Green Goblin - they're all mined from what the heroes want most. This suggests that there was something in Daredevil and She-Hulk's romance that truly resonated with their deepest desires. Not only was this connection lost in an instant, but it's possible neither remembers it even happened.

Do She-Hulk & Daredevil Have a Future?

There's been no sign since that She-Hulk and Daredevil remember their House of M relationship, though it's possible that may change if the comics pair up the two to take advantage of synergy with the MCU. While Daredevil and She-Hulk respect each other as lawyers, they seem to have no clue that - if Scarlet Witch's magic is any indication - they seem to be soulmates, giving their House of M love affair a bittersweet ending that they'll hopefully avoid in the MCU.
