Tim Roth reveals why returning as the Abomination in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law was a challenge for the actor. The upcoming Disney+ television series will be the final show within the MCU's Phase Four. She Hulk: Attorney At Law stars Orphan Black's Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, a lawyer tasked with defending super-humans. After accidentally having Bruce Banner's (Mark Ruffalo) blood contaminated with hers, Walters transforms into a 6'7" powerful green version of herself.

Roth is set to reprise his role as Emil Blonsky/Abomination, the towering mutated soldier from the MCU Phase One film, The Incredible Hulk. Although the film received mixed reviews by critics and audiences, and now largely disregarded by many as its lead was recast for The Avengers, the Abomination is one of the few characters from the film to have returned to the franchise. The villain briefly appeared in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings where he was partnered with Sorcerer Supreme Wong (Benedict Wong) to win money in illegal fights. Now, the Abomination returns in a central role for the MCU's latest television series.

In a Screen Rant exclusive interview with Roth, the actor shared why reprising his role as The Incredible Hulk villain, Abomination, was a challenge for him. After consulting the part with his friends, Roth accepted the role but initially found the work confusing. He claimed he was familiar with the Marvel's recent slate of films, but was at first unable to find the method in all the madness. Read what the actor said below.

It was extraordinary. They gave me a buzz and said, "Do you fancy it?" And I was like, yeah, yeah, why not? Again, I ran it by the boys and they're like, "Just do it." And so jumped in and into it, but I found it initially - which I think it's a positive as an actor - I found it difficult. Just for the first couple of days. I was like, "Okay, what do I do?" and "How does this work?" Because I watched Marvel movies. I love watching them. When I'm traveling and stuff like that. Big Logan fan, big Deadpool fan, all of that. Fantastic stuff. But how do you do it? What's the language of it? And I think there's a similarity with Resurrection, too, in that you have to figure out a way.

Tim Roth Emil Blonsky The Incredible Hulk

Although Roth played a significant role in The Incredible Hulk, it was one of the first two films in the MCU. At that point Marvel Studios, let alone the actors themselves, had no idea what the franchise would become. Roth returning the role of the Abomination after 14 years would most likely be disorienting for the actor as so much of the Marvel process had changed. With his return for She Hulk: Attorney at Law, Roth is faced with a whole new set of rules and procedures unlike he has ever seen in his acting career.

As She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's release date nears, much of the upcoming series' story details are finally being revealed. However, not much is clear regarding the particulars as to why Walters must represent Blonksy in the series. The trailers tease that the villain has now found an inner peace and become somewhat of a motivational speaker to help inspire those in need. Whether or not Blonksy is truly rehabilitated remains to be seen, but audiences can catch Roth's return to his menacing green form when She-Hulk: Attorney at Law debuts on Disney+ August 17.
