A new Shazam! trailer is on the way - but when will it release online? Directed by horror filmmaker David F. Sandberg with a script from Henry Gayden, Shazam! stars Asher Angel as Billy Batson and Zachary Levi as the adult superhero Shazam (formerly known as Captain Marvel in the DC Universe). In addition to Jack Dylan Grazer playing Billy's foster brother, Freddy Freeman, and Djimon Hounsou portraying the wizard Shazam (who bestows his powers onto Billy), the movie stars Mark Strong as the villain, Dr. Taddeus Sivana.

The first trailer for Shazam! released alongside the first Aquaman trailer during San Diego Comic-Con 2018 - but that was almost six months ago. With Shazam! slated to hit theaters the first week of April, it's about time that Warner Bros. release the second official trailer, which should show off more of Dr. Sivana as well as give audiences an idea of what the movie is actually about (aside from Billy Batson becoming the superhero Shazam, of course). Thankfully, another Shazam! trailer is going to drop very soon.

In December, it was revealed that the second Shazam! trailer would release sometime in the new year, which was later specified to be in January. And now, there's a rumor going around about the new Shazam! trailer releasing on January 19. While that date is certainly a possibility, putting out a new trailer on a Saturday (outside of a major pop culture convention) would be... strange. Instead, it seems more likely that the new Shazam! trailer will release earlier that week (week of January 14), so that it could possibly play in front of M. Night Shyamalan's Glass that weekend.

Shazam Billy Batson Movie

Since WB skipped the opportunity to play the new Shazam! trailer in front of James Wan's Aquaman in December, not to mention in front of other blockbuster films like Bumblebee and Mary Poppins Returns, it wouldn't make sense for the studio to miss showing it off in front of Glass, which is shaping up to be the biggest movie release in January and most of February. It isn't until Valentine's Day comes around that the first batch of 2019's blockbuster movies will start to release, such as Alita: Battle Angel.

With the second Shazam! trailer coming just a few months ahead of the movie's release on April 5, not to mention several months after the first trailer's release, it seems unlikely that fans will get a third trailer. Instead, WB appears to be following the same marketing strategy as Aquaman's, which consisted of only two full trailers and a bunch of TV spots. Considering that Aquaman is on its way to $1 billion at the worldwide box office, it seems that WB's marketing campaign was successful.
