Shazam! star Zachary Levi would like to see his version of Shazam take on Superman and Black Adam in a fight. Although he will face off against the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong) in his first solo outing, the actor would like DC and Warner Bros. to consider the other two for future movies.
Shazam! tells the story of a teenage boy, Billy Batson (Asher Angel), who comes across a wizard who gives him the power to become an adult superhero, Shazam. As Shazam, Billy has super strength and super speed, along with a host of other abilities. The film will cover the Shazam origin story, as well as introduce Billy and his adult alter-ego to the Worlds of DC universe.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Levi spoke about some characters he would like to see Shazam go up against. Two of those characters are Henry Cavill's Superman and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam.
"I would love for Shazam and Black Adam to go head to head, I would love that. And I would love for like Shazam and Superman to go head to head because in the comic books those have been some iconic fights. You know there's so many cool things we could with the character, but one movie at a time, I'm just so stoked that we're here right now. That we made the movie, we got through that winter in Toronto. These talented young fools are just going to continue to take over the world and I'm just going to hang onto their coattails."
Initially, many believed that Black Adam would show up in the Shazam! film, but Johnson recently confirmed that this is not the case. Instead, the big bad is Dr. Sivana, a mysterious villain that fans still don't know a lot about. But that doesn't mean Black Adam is entirely out of the picture; he could very well turn up in a sequel. There are also plans for a Black Adam solo movie, which suggests he may go up against Shazam in that film instead.
As far as Henry Cavill's Superman goes, that probably won't happen anytime soon. However, the two have gone toe to toe in the comics, although it's usually because Superman is under the influence of something evil, such as red Kryptonite. The two superheroes have comparable powers, so it's no wonder that Levi would like to see them battle it out.
Warner Bros. released the first trailer for Shazam! during San Diego Comic-Con, which gave fans a good look at the movie's story and setting, as well as Shazam's origin. Although many already found the trailer impressive, director David F. Sandberg let fans know that the trailer's CGI was not indicative of the final CGI for the movie.
Some DC Comics fans are already disappointed by the lack of Black Adam in the film, so Levi's comments are right in line with what fans would like to see. One can only hope that DC and Warner Bros. pay attention to these remarks because a Shazam battle with Superman or Black Adam would undoubtedly offer something highly entertaining.
