The Justice League has a place in the Shazam! trailer - if you know where to look. David F. Sandberg's film is a very different sort of DC Extended Universe movie, focusing not on the near-mythic figures audiences have become accustomed to but instead a child unexpectedly gifted superhero powers. However, that doesn't mean the Justice League won't have a presence.

Set photos revealed merchandise relating to Superman, Batman and (curiously) Harley Quinn, while a recent a first look at Billy Batson - the younger side of Shazam - revealed a wealth of superhero memorabilia in Freddy Freeman's room, with a particular slant towards the Man of Steel. This makes for a Shazam! trailer that, despite being decidedly lighter in-tone, has a strong presence from the DCEU.

The core of it is Freddy, who has so many collectibles even a DCEU die-hard would get jealous. In fact, two-thirds of the Justice League are represented! What follows are the big four Easter Eggs.

Aquaman - Freddy's T-Shirt

We get the first indication of Freddy's fanboy nature before he even opens his mouth. When being introduced to Billy Batson at their foster parents' house - they appear to be roommates - he's wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the Aquaman logo. In the DCEU so far, Arthur Curry has been a rather reluctant hero and mostly consigned to the oceans and Amnesty Bay, but evidently, his solo movie (which also just got a trailer) will see him become more of a household name (although that shirt is unlikely official Atlantis merchandise).

Batman - Batarang

When Bruce Wayne revealed himself as Batman to Barry Allen in Justice League, he did so with a speed-testing Batarang, something the young Flash asked to keep. He's evidently not the only one wanting a Batman collectible: atop a chest of drawers, Freddy has his own Batarang. Of course, while this is an accurate-looking piece - (it even has the identifiable marks carved into it if you brighten the image) - it's unclear if this is a Wayne Tech original or just a replica; it's quite possibly the latter given what's next.

Superman - Authentic Deflected Bullet

Freddy quite clearly has a favorite superhero; as hinted at by him saying a hero must fly, he's particularly obsessed with Superman. From the teaser image, we saw he had caps and mugs honoring the Kryptonian (similar to those seen in Suicide Squad), with his pride possession being a bullet deflected of Supes' chest complete with "Certificate of Authenticity". He keeps this hidden away, alongside newspapers debating Superman's place in modern society (a nod to the meta-debate of Batman v Superman).

Wonder Woman - Another Freddy T-Shirt

Later in the trailer, when Shazam is trying out his lightning powers on passersby's phones (to mixed charging results), Freddy sports another DC logo t-shirt, this time for Wonder Woman. As with Aquaman, this must be a fairly recent addition given that Diana Prince has been in some degree of hiding for the better part of a century (how deep depends on the movie at hand).

This is likely just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to DCEU references. Aside from what set photos revealed, Freddy's superhero idolizing is set to be a key motivator to Billy discovering his powers and beyond. In fact, the trailer may have actually edited around more overt references to some superheroes. For now, conspicuous by their absence are The Flash and Cyborg, although by the time of Shazam! neither has had their own solo adventure and may not be as prominent as the others (despite saving the world as a team).
