The second trailer for Shazam! is reportedly arriving this month. Directed by David F. Sandberg, the next DCEU film will debut Zachary Levi as the titular character alongside Asher Angel playing his human alter-ego, young Billy Batson. The dual-personality hero will take on Doctor Sivana, who will be brought to life by Mark Strong. Not much is known regarding plot specifics for the flick, as Warner Bros. is keeping details tightly under wraps. But the origin story of the newest superhero in the Warner Bros. comic book movie block will boast a more lighthearted and family-friendly tone, but without the quippy one-liners that the MCU is known for.
Marketing efforts by Warner Bros. have been zeroed in on James Wan's Aquaman starring Jason Momoa in the last few months. But with the flick out for a couple of weeks now, the focus will unsurprisingly shift to Shazam!, the next movie on the DCEU docket. And based on the latest intel, a new trailer for the film could debut later this month.
Daniel RPK on Twitter suggests that the second trailer for Shazam! is arriving on January 19. No other information has been divulged with regard to the time and venue of the release, but Warner Bros. could very well just drop it online. Check out his tweet, inexplicably written in French, below.
Shazam! bientôt un second trailer le 19 janvier.— Daniel Richtman (@DanielRPK) January 1, 2019
Last month, word got out that a brand new trailer was coming. Bolstered by Levi's tease that it's coming soon, many expected that it would drop at Comic-Con Experience Brazil 2018. New footage was shown at the event, but it wasn't shared publicly, although the description of the clip quickly made its way online. It's unknown if the incoming one will be the same as what was shown at the convention, but regardless, fans are already clamoring for it.
Considering the fact that Shazam! is due to hit theaters in three months, it makes sense that the second trailer for the flick will be rolled out sooner rather than later. With a superhero film-laden start to this year's blockbuster season - Captain Marvel (March 8) and Avengers: Endgame (April 26) sandwich the Sandberg-directed flick - Warner Bros. definitely wants to kickstart their official marketing campaign as early as possible.
The first trailer for Shazam! was positively received by the public - already a great start, especially since the DCEU is launching a brand new character. Since fans have yet to see the hero in action, it was important for Sandberg and his team to convey the right message about the character and what his arrival will mean to the franchise. People involved in the project have teased nothing but bigger and better surprises for the second trailer, only adding to the excitement surrounding its nearing release.
