Shazam! producer Peter Safran is optimistic that fans will see Zachary Levi's upcoming hero eventually joining the Justice League. Levi stars as the titular character opposite Asher Angel, who plays young Billy Batson, the superhero's human alter-ego. Together, they will square off against Doctor Sivana, the narrative's main antagonist played by Mark Strong. One look at recently released promotional materials for the film and it's apparent that the David F. Sandberg-directed project is very different from previous DC movies. It exudes a more fun and lighthearted vibe - exactly what folks behind the project intend it to be, considering the movie's source material.

Safran previously confirmed that there are plans for Shazam! sequels already, which is not an uncommon thing to do in this day and age where superhero franchises are the bread and butter of Hollywood. But what about the possibility of working alongside the Justice League? Could that also be something that they're building towards, considering that by the time Shazam debuts, he will be the only DCEU hero who hasn't rubbed elbows with DC's Finest? Safran and even Levi have now shared their two cents regarding the matter.

As part of EW's special Comic-Con issue covering all things Shazam!, the movie's producer was asked about the possibility of seeing Levi's upcoming DC hero rubbing elbows with the Justice League. Safran's answer is promising, saying: “I wouldn’t be surprised to see Shazam play a role in the DCU. He exists in that world.”  Although he didn't reveal anything specific about it, it's enough to excite fans about seeing future crossovers in the franchise, especially since recent reports have claimed Warner Bros. wants to focus on making solo DC movies for now.

As for Levi, the actor is nothing but excited about the proposed possibility. “I would lose my s— if that happened, I would lose all of the s—s. I remember thinking, ‘If I get this and if this movie does well enough and if Justice Leauge does well enough and they make another Justice League … maybe I’ll be on that next poster with all those guys,” he exclaimed.

Levi's thrilled reaction on the prospect of Shazam eventually joining World's Finest is most likely the same reaction that his character would have, upon learning that he's set to work alongside the Justice League. After all, a previously released promo still featuring Billy includes a shelf full of Superman and Batman goodies, giving people the impression that just like any young kid, he's also a huge fan of the two iconic heroes. Giving him the opportunity to meet them and even do a mission with them will undoubtedly be a dream come true for the kid-at-heart hero.

No word as of yet on whether or not a Justice League sequel is included in Warner Bros.' plans for the DCEU in the foreseeable future. However, many are expecting that the studio will unveil their revamped slate later this week at SDCC. As of now, they only have three DCEU films left on their docket: Aquaman, Shazam!, and Wonder Woman 1894, plus the DCEU-separate Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix - all of which are scheduled to arrive before 2020.
